1. OIL SYSTEM

In Mabruk field, the oil system is being treated using Chimec corrosion inhibitor CH-1735C and
Chimec scale inhibitor CH-3664 in some production oil wells with an overall target rate of 25 ppm.

The injection rates are monitored continually basing on the flow rate of each production well in order
to maintain the internal protection of flowlines and trunk lines.

1.3 OIL SYSTEM COMMENTS

Actually, all the chemical injections for the oil system are within an acceptable range.
Even though we faced some issues with chemical pumps, the chemical injections are as per
requirements for all wells which are online.

The normal concerns with the pump reliability in some wells continue with frequent checking required
to ensure injection is ongoing.

Reporting and follow up of the pump failures continue to ensure that the down time for these pumps
is kept to a minimum.

All treatment analyses have been performed with satisfactory results being found. All results are
within the acceptable range with no large deviations from previous months.

The pressures of the waxy wells flow lines: A-61, A-30, A98, A96, A120, A119 and A-27 are always
monitored in order to detect any over pressure and so wells production problems.

The PPD CH-6739T is usually injection in the listed wells flowlines to avoid wax appearance and
build up.

The SRB program continues to have the desired effect of minimising the SRB activity in wellbore
annuli.
At the end of this month, a complete SRB tests survey was performed for all the oil producer wells
with the assistance of the site corrosion engineer in order to define the SRB sources.

2. WATER INJECTION SYSTEM

In Mabruk field, the water system is being treated using Chimec corrosion inhibitor CH-1937 and
Chimec scale inhibitor CH-3664 in the satellites 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with an overall target rate of 25 ppm.
The injection rates are monitored continually basing on the flow rate of the water wells in order to
maintain the internal protection of the pipelines.

2.3 WATER INJECTION COMMENTS

As in previous months for the water injection system, the main area of concern is the reliability of the
chemical injection pumps in order to keep the water pipelines in safe condition.

We can remark that, during the last months, the number of pumps failures decreased because of the
continuous monitoring of all the injection pumps and tanks at the wells and the satellites.

In other hand, some of the chemical injection pumps at the satellites should be completely replaced
by new ones because they became in very bad state which causes material and time loses.

The results from the water injection system during the month indicate that from the wet chemistry
analysis, corrosion in the system remains stable and under control.

The results for the pH and the sulphide values are fairly stable.

The Fe2+ results are in low range of expected results from the field.

Comparing the water source results with those of the injector’s, it can be seen that the corrosion
contributing to the iron concentration is controlled.
2+
The Mn results support the iron analyses indicating that from an internal corrosion perspective the
facilities are well protected.

As detailed in previous reports, an area which could further improve this situation would be to
implement the recommendation to split the corrosion inhibitor between the wellhead and down
stream of the filters.

This would allow a protective film to adhere to the flow line between wellhead and current injection
point but would not cause too much deposit in the filters as the majority of the protection would be
added afterwards.

3.GOSP SYSTEM

3.1 CHEMICAL TREATMENT

Before the start up of the old GOSP, all the production was being treated at the new GOSP facilities.

Actually,

• The North trunk line and the East trunk line are connected to the new GOSP.
• The South trunk lines and the South stand alone wells are connected to the old GOSP.
The corrosion inhibitor CH-1735C, the scale inhibitor CH-3664 and the Demulsifier CH-2137T are
currently injected at the new and the old GOSP inlets according the flow rate of the production
coming to each plant. New skids are installed at the old GOSP inlet to provide the chemicals injection
for this system.

The water separated at the two plants is sent, through two different circuits, to the oily water
separator where it is treated by corrosion inhibitor CH-1937 and biocides CH-7360 and CH-7098
injected from the oily water chemical skid.

Actually, for the old GOSP, the corrosion and the scale inhibitors are injected using pneumatic pumps
which are not adequate for this service. Electrical pump should be installed because they can inject
permanently the required rates with more exactitude.

The Demulsifier injection is provided by the same electrical pump used for the new GOSP
Demulsifier injection because it is equipped with two injection heads.

3.5 GOSP COMMENTS

All the chemical injection rates are acceptably close to the theoretical values given as a target and the
results from the wet chemical analysis are within acceptable limits.

These results have been maintained at this rate for a number of months indicating good stability with the
current treatment schedule.

Oil in water results are listed in the table above. These results, in the normal operating, are acceptable.

We can remark also that the separated water at the old GOSP three phases separators has a very good
quality in term of Oil in water comparing with the new GOSP three phases separator.

For the oily water separator, the plates package inside has been removed, so the separation in the vessel
became based on a simple settling.

We follow the oil in water at the outlet of this separator just to have an idea about its actual efficiency and
the quantity of oil which leaves the separator and then can arrive at to the buffer tank.

All the analyses results are acceptable and show a very good efficiency of the current chemical
treatments.

4.2 SRB COMMENTS

The majority of the results taken during the month of January for samples inoculated in January and
December are controlled.

There are same samples which have shown, recently, microbiological activity and these areas must be
monitored to ensure that the control continues.

April 09 Chimec Monthly Report N-01-11, January 2011

These areas, concerned by the SRB growth, are the GOSP facilities and the trunk lines:
• Trunk lines: ETL, STL, and NTL.
• GOSP Facilities: GOSP inlets, 3.Ph.Sep, Desalters and also the crude oil storage tanks.

As a first step to investigate this situation, SRB test campaign was performed for all the oil producer wells in
Mabruk field in order to find out the contaminated area.

SRB test we performed also in the three trunk lines and in all the sample points of the GOSP facilities to
confirm these contaminations.

We will focus in this period on these areas in order to eliminate the SRB presence inside.

Some solutions can be adopted to treat the SRB in the concerned areas:
• Update the list of wells concerned by the biocide shock in the annulus.
• Increase the flow rate of biocide during the shock of the oil system.
• Inject biocide at the inlet of the GOSP in order to treat the stream before entering the GOSP
facilities.
