FINAL PROJECT GUIDELINES

PURPOSE: The purpose of this project is to provide you an opportunity to understand the
management practices in real-life organizational settings and examine the impact of effective
management on the overall success of an organization.

INTRODUCTION
In this project, you are required to examine an organization from a variety of points such as its
environment, the way managers make decisions, planning strategies, managing human resources
and the way organizations manage change and innovation.

Moreover, you are also required to investigate in what ways did Planning, Organizing, Leading &
Controlling contributes to the company’s success (or failure)?

METHODOLOGY: You need to visit any registered organizations (Sdn. Bhd OR Bhd.) in
Malaysia to interview its manager to find out how scientific management really works in the
organizations. Following the following steps:

1. Step 1 – Select any registered company (make sure no groups select the same company)
2. Step 2 – Prepare a questionnaire for open-ended questions following the concepts mentioned
above. You can get guidelines (topics to be covered in each chapter) from the book

or internet sources.
3. Step 3 - Get an appointment from the manager for an interview (if you need a letter, I will
provide)
4. Step 4 – Visit the organization in your respective group
5. Step 5 – Interview manager to seek as much as information possible
6. Step 6 – Prepare a detailed project report (minimum of 15 pages)
7. Step 7 – Prepare a presentation. Each member of the group needs to present a portion of
the project. The maximum time for the presentation is 10 minutes.
8. Step 8 – Submit Hard or the report and provide a link for the project presentation for
lecturer’s evaluation and grading.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION


The discussion and conclusions should be drawn regarding the effectiveness of the use of the broad
range of management principles, and their impact on the success of the company. The Final Project
Guidelines discussion must be very comprehensive and highlighting the true implementation of the
management concepts into the organizational settings.

RECOMMENDATIONS

The gap which you have identified during the research process, here you need to provide a
recommendation to the organization/managers.

REPORT GUIDELINES & FORMAT

 The project should be a minimum of


o 15-20 pages
o 1.5 spacing
o 12 point Times New Roman font
o Diagrams, photos and charts are encouraged but will not be counted towards the
page count of the paper.

 The project will be carried out by a maximum of 5 group members.


 This is a hybrid team/individual project. The activities should be divided and each student
should work independently as well as in a team to contribute to the final project. Each team
member should document his/her contributions to the project. Grades will be determined by
individual efforts.
 The format for the project report should be as follows:

1. Title of the project

2. Summary / Abstract (1 page)

3. Introduction (1-2 pages)

4. Detailed analysis of the findings based on the recommended topics (10 - 12 pages) –
Please report the findings based on separating into headings and sub-headings.

5. Discussion and conclusion (1-2 pages)

PROJECT PRESENTATION
Once the project report is completed, please prepare a 10 min video presentation to explain your
project. This video must be provided in youtube link along with the project report.
The project report will be graded for the group. However, the presentation grades will be awarded
on individual performance. Therefore, each member of the group must be present in the video
presentation. Failing to the appearance of any individual will result in 0/5 marks for the presentation.
