Celebrating 10 Years

of Ministry in
East Africa
2010 Annual Campaign
Dear Friends,
I am ecstatic about the opportunity to share this piece with you, largely because never in my
wildest dreams did I imagine that I would get to be a part of celebrating this major ministry milestone.

Looking forward to 2011, we are already excited to see that the
Lord is putting a team in place that will allow us to grow our impact in
East Africa. We have already filled 8 new positions for the first half of
2011; we are so excited about the ways in which these new individuals
will be able to extend the reach of this ministry. The Lord is so faithful to
provide us with the right people at the right time. As I look forward to
their arrival, I am also aware that we need to increase our general giving
to cover ministry provided expenses. I confidently believe that the Lord will provide these needs be-
cause He has paved the way for these new individuals to join our team.
Thank you so much for any financial support that you are able to give towards our 2010 shortfall!
We truly appreciate your commitment to Brackenhurst Ministries and to impacting these lives here in
East Africa!
Blessings,

Executive Director
In 10 Years of Camp BlueSky, over 3,800 kids from at
least 36 nationalities have been exposed to the Gospel of
Jesus Christ!
When we look back on the past 10 years of camp, nothing excites us more than real-
izing how many kids have gotten to hear the Gospel. When camp began in 2001, we
had a total of 110 campers, primarily from Christian missionary backgrounds. How-
ever, there were about 5 kids who came from a diplomat background that first year,
foreshadowing the direction in which the Lord was going to take camp in the future.
For the past 4 years, we have averaged 500 kids each summer, about three-quarters
of those kids are from non-Christian backgrounds. It is common for counselors to
have a camper from each of these faiths in the same cabin: Christian, Muslim, Hindu,
Buddhist, Jewish, and Athiest. They literally have the opportunity to share Christ
with kids representing all of the major world religions at the same time. How often
does that happen in the world? God has been so faithful to Camp BlueSky to give us
the opportunity to proclaim Christ among the nations. We have had the privilage of seeing kids from all
walks of life put their faith in Christ. We are so thankful that this is the work that the Lord has allowed us
to be a part of for the past 10 years, and we pray that He would continue to give us the opportunity to
reach this diverse and spiritually dry community with the transforming power of His Gospel.

Celebrating the Lord's Faithfulness in Student Ministry

Looking back, we are also so thankful that the Lord has allowed the
Brackenhurst Ministries student ministry program to grow so that we
are able to be involved in the lives of many of these kids year round.
One week of camp definitely changes kids’ lives, but we know the
potential for impact is so much greater than that when faithful student
ministry workers are able to walk with them throughout the year.
Since the student ministry program was officially started in 2004, we
have had the amazing privilege of being involved in the lives of hun-
dreds of students. Whether it is through youth group, early morning

students throughout the year!
At this point, we are primarily working in 2 schools, but as we see our
team growing, we are already beginning to pray about which school the Lord would have us add next.
We have kids coming to camp from at least 15 different schools in the Nairobi area, which means our
student ministry program has lots of opportunity for growth before we are engaging all of the camp kids
year round!

BlueSky Adventures Celebrates 10 Years of Training Leaders

and Building Stronger Teams
When our teambuilding and leadership development prorgram began in 2001, we were one of the first
to offer this type of training experientially in Kenya. Today, we remain a leader in this growing field as we
pour into the lives of current and next generation local and worldwide leaders. Over the past 10 years,
the Lord has given us the opportunity to work with approximately 600 corporations, schools, community
organizations and churches on our challenge course.
BlueSky Adventures focuses on equipping participants with vital skills such as leadership, communica-
tion, trust, and teamwork, just to name a few. Our staff often has the opportunity to share why these
principles are important from a Biblical perspective. Simply by being in business, we believe that the
Lord opens a lot of doors to people not accessible to more traditional missionaries.
Additionally we have had the opportunity to invest in our Kenyan staff and develop their leadership po-
tential. As we focus on giving them increased leadership and train-
ing opportunities, we see that they become better equipped to help
their country grow and develop. We have had the blessing of seeing
two of our former team members move on to leadership positions
with an organization that enables Kenyan churches to care for those
suffering from HIV/AIDS in their communities. They often talk about
how their experience as facilitators with BlueSky Adventures helped
to equip them for the ministry the Lord has called them to today.
Planning Ahead for the 10 Year Mark in Western Kenya
In addition to sharing God’s love, we have also have the privilege of showing God’s love as we pour into
a variety of peoples’ lives, and as we helped to provide access to basic needs at our project in Western
Kenya. By God’s grace and with your help, in 2010, we were able to drill another deep-water well, which
provided access to clean drinking water for a whole community. And, we provided much needed food,
shoes, basic necessities, and access to education to 200+ orphaned children. Also, we provided 40 more
milking cows to needy families.
With only 3 years left before we reach the 10 year mark of our involvement in the Western Project, we are
focusing on helping Mission Link Ministries move towards a higher level of sustainability. We have put in
place several goals that we believe will decrease dependency and increase sustainability.
Goal 1: Provide Rehema Children’s Home and Academy with a sus-
tainable food source. Each year we are spending about $36,000 just
to feed the children at Rehema, we would love to see them in a posi-
tion where they are not requiring outside funding to feed the kids.
We are currently researching a land project that would allow Mis-
sion Link to grow enough food to feed all of the children at Rehema.
The project will require that we purchase land, drill a borehole, and
put an irrigation system in place. We are aiming to simultaneously

tainability at Rehema.

Goal 2: Have a sponsor in place for all of the 200+ children at

Rehema by the end of 2013. Once the land project is completed,
there should be no need to spend sponsorship money on food. This
means that all of the sponsorship funds will be able to be used to im-
prove the quality of education and life at Rehema. Currently we have
sponsors for 41 children; to accomplish this goal, we will need spon- You can make a difference

each month.
Goal 3: Ensure that there is a well at all 7 of the Mission Link Assemblies.
To date, wells have been drilled at 4 of the 7 “Assemblies” in the Mission Link
church planting network. The 37 churches are broken up into 7 Assemblies
that are created based on their proximity to one another.
We currently have the funding in place to drill our 5th well in early 2011. We
are planning to focus our efforts on raising money for the land project in
2011 and plan to begin raising fund for wells for the 2 remaining assemblies
in early 2012.

Goal 4: Provide cows for all of the Mission Link Ministries staff
(pastors, teachers, and ECD teachers)until the program is able to
provide cows from within. We currently have sufficient funds to
purchase cows for the remaining staff and several needy members
of the community in early 2011. At the end of next year, we plan
to evaluate if we need to raise money for more cows in 2012. The The first round of second gen-

Looking Forward to a Growing Team in 2011
More staff on the ground means more lives can be impacted, so we are
excited to have 8 new people that are planning to join our team next
year. It has been amazing to see the Lord’s provision of the right people
at the right time. David Preston will be joining our team in May as the
director of operations in Kenya. He will be helping to implement our
strategic plan and overseeing staff development. David and his wife
Tammy both have years of experience at WinShape at Berry College.
Their kids Wesley and Hannah are tons of fun and will make a great ad-
dition to the team as well.
We are also excited that the Lord continues to provide staff to lead
BlueSky Adventures. Greg Hatcher will be joining our team in May to

Brackenhurst Ministries Needs YOUR Help!
We hope that you will prayerfully consider participating in this year’s Annual Campaign. As we look back
and celebrate the past ten years, we are also aware of our current urgent need for funding to help cover
the $50, 000 budget shortfall we are experiencing this year. We are so excited about the opportunity
for growth that our team will experience in 2011. With your contributions to the annual campaign, the
ground work will be laid for the following things to happen in 2011:
• Campers, who represent the next generation of world
leaders, will be exposed to the life-transforming power
of the Gospel at camp this summer.
• More students will be involved in Gospel sharing pro-
gramming and intentional relationships with our grow-
ing student ministry team.
• A new climbing gym will become a hub in the interna-
tional community in Nairobi, creating more opportuni-
ties for intentional relationship.
• The Adventure program will continue to develop a
growing number of current and next generation leaders
in Kenya.
• The lives of the children at Rehema Childrens Home and
Academy will be transformed through the provision of a
sustainable food source and additional sponsors.
