A. FUTURE TENSE

Future tense is a form of verb that is specifically used to express or express an activity or
activities that will be done in the future. We all understand that, but the problem is under what
conditions and how an activity or activity is expressed. This is what causes all types of tenses in
English to have the subtypes of the tense, it is not spared the tense that we will learn, namely the
future tense which has a subtype, one of them is simplefuture tense.

B. FUTURE WILL

Will is an auxiliary verb capital that is used to give meaning to the sentence Present Future
Tense. What is Auxiliary Verb Capital? Modal Auxiliary Verb is also called an auxiliary verb in
Indonesian. The name is also a help word, so the function is to help the verb. What for? Give a
clearer meaning to time and emphasize its function.

C. Example of Using WILL + VERB 1

1. (+) I will phone him after this class.

(-) I will not phone him tomorrow.

(?) Will you phone him tomorrow?

2. (+) She will help you to clean this room.

(-) They won't help you to clean this room.

(?) Who will help me to clean this room?

3. (+) My friends and I will go out when it stops raining.

(-) My friends and I will not go out if it keeps raining.

(?) Will you and your friends go out when it stops raining?

4. (+) They'll probably invite lots of people to the party.

(-) I think they won't invite Jacky to the party

(?) Will they invite Jacky to the party? (Will they invite Jacky to the party?)

5. (+) He'll pay you back on Monday.

(-) I am sure he won't forget to pay you on Monday.

(?) When will he pay me back?


D. FUTURE BE GOING TO

How about Be Going To? It's the same. Be it also includes Auxiliary Verb alias auxiliary verbs.
For Simple Future we use Be in the Present form, namely Is, Am, Are according to the Subject.
Subject I is paired with AM; Subjects She, He, It are paired with IS and finally They, We, You are
followed by ARE.

E. Example of Use of BE GOING TO + VERB 1

1. (+) We are going to visit her tomorrow.

(-) We are not going to visit her this evening.

(?) Are we going to visit her this evening?

2. (+) Susan and Gusto are gonna go to Paris next week.

(-) Susan and Gusto aren't gonna go to London next week

(?) Where are Susan and Gusto gonna go next week?

3. (+) I'm gonna watch my favorite movie.

(-) I'm not gonna watch the news.

(?) Am I gonna watch the news?

4. (+) She’s going to join a photography class this Friday

(-) She's not going to join a beauty class this Friday.

(?) What class is she going to join this Friday?

5. (+) Mr. Elow is going to rent this house next month.

(-) Mr. Elow is not going to buy this house next week.

(?) Is Mr. Elow going to buy this house next month?


1. Simple Future Tense ( will and we going to)

Subject + will + verb1+ object + modifier

Subject + [(is/am/are/) going to] + verb1+ object + modifier

Example: 1. Farmers in Jati Bali will grow rice crops next month

2. Transpiration will start to increase tomorrow morning.


3. Some students are going to conduct research on vegetative plant propagations next
semester.
2. Future continuous tense

Subject + will + be + ( verb1+ing) + object + modifier

Subject + [(is/am/are/) going to] + be + (verb1+ing) + object

Example: 1. Farmers in Jati Bali will be growing rice crops at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

2. Some students are going to be conducting research on vegetative plant propagations


when I go to the agronomy laboratory next week.

3. My daughter will be watching TV at eight thirty tonight.

4. She will be copying the materials at 10 o’clock this morning.

3. Future Perfect Tense

subject + will + have + verb3 + object + modifier

Example: 1. Farmers in Jati Bali will have grown rice crops by the end of next month

2. Some students will have conducted research on vegetative plant propagations forone
year when the next semester starts next month
3. Transpiration will have started to increase before we measure it at 9 a.m.tomorrow.
4. By 3 o’clock this afternoon, I will have finished reading this book.

4. Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Subject + will + have + been + ( verb1+ing) + object

Example: 1. Farmers in Jati Bali will have been growing rice crops for 40 years by theend of this year.

2. Some students will have been conducting research on vegetative plant propagations for
one year when the next semester starts next month
5. past future tense

Subject + would + verb1+ object + modifier

Subject + [(was/were) going to] + verb1+ object + modifier

Example: 1. According to the weather forecast, it will rain tomorrow

2. I will probably see Janet at the cafeteria at lunch.

6. Past Future Continuous Tense

Subject + would + be +( verb1+ing) + object + modifier


Subject + [(was/were) going to] + be + (verb1+ing) + object + modifier

Example: 1. Some students were going to be conducting research on vegetative plant propagations
when I go to the agronomy laboratory last week.

Know ledge of the Use of Will and Going To

Substitute words such as They, We, I, You, She, He, It and WILL can be abbreviated. Only
need to add the apostrophe alias single quotation mark (‘). Whereas the use of will in negative
sentences can be abbreviated WILL NOT to WON'T.

I will / shall = Ill


We will / shall = We’ll
They will = They’ll
She will = She'll

He will = He'll

In addition, Going To can also be abbreviated as Gonna. But the use of Gonna is for informal
situations such as when speaking (Speaking) or having a conversation. Consider the following
example of using Going To and Gonna.

Example:
1. I'm going to learn Math = I'm gonna learn Math
2. She is going to clean her car = She's gonna clean her car
3. They are going to buy some food = They’re gonna buy some food
