NAME : Ductility Testing Machine
Quality Standard : As Per IS 1208

Specification :
Ductility Testing Machine Electrically Operated for determining the
ductility of asphalt and bitumen. The ductility of bitumen is
expressed as the distance in centimeters to which a standard
briquette can be elongated before the thread thus formed breaks
under specified conditions. The Machine is designed to test three
specimens simultaneously, and consists of a bath thermostatically

pump circulator & heater and carriage moving over a lead screw.
Fixed and movable brackets are so positioned that specimen is
submerged in water throughout. A clutch arrangement is made to
stop the movement of the movable bracket when rapture of the
specimen is noticed. An electric motor driven reduction gear unit
ensures smooth constant speed and continuous operation and
provides two rates of pull / travel, i.e., 50mm/min and 10 mm/min
in the machine.

The Machine is fitted with ½ HP motor. Suitable for Operation on

220V, Single Phase, 50Hz, AC Supply.

NAME : Standard Tar Viscometer
Quality Standard : As Per IS 1206

Specification :
Standard Tar Viscometer used for determining the viscosity of cut
back bitumen and road-oil. The viscometer consists of a chrome
plated copper bath, with a drain valve and a central tube to receive
the test cup and to position the stirrer, and is mounted on a stand
with leveling feet. Stirrer has a curved shield and is provided with
an insulated handle, thermometer socket and swivel support for the
valve. Supplied complete with 10 mm cup and ball valve or 4mm
cup and ball valve as per the requirement and Electrical Heater with
immersion heating elements and Dimmerstat for controlling the
temperature.

NAME : Bitumen Laboratory Mixer

Specification :
Laboratory Mixer for mixing of Bitumen for making different types of test
specimens for mix design in the laboratory. The apparatus comprises of A
motor driven mixer which simultaneously imparts two motions to the
mixing paddle i.e. revolving and planetary. A two speed gearbox is
incorporated in the drive which makes the paddle revolve at approximately
140 and 285rpm with corresponding planetary motion of 62 and 125rpm
respectively, A stainless steel mixing paddle of the specified shape and

NAME : Thin Film Oven / Loss on Heating Oven
Quality Standard : As Per IS 9382 / IS 1212
Specification :
Thin Film Oven test is conducted for determining the effect of the heat
and air on asphaltic material as per the requirements of IS: 9382.
Loss on Heating test is conducted for determining the loss in weight of
bitumen and flux-oils on heating as per the requirements of IS: 1212.
The Oven is having a double walled Internal Chamber of 400mm x
400mm x 400mm (16” x 16” x 16”) made of Stainless Steel and
External Body made of Mild Steel Sheet (Powder Coated Paint) or
Stainless Steel Sheet with glasswool insulation between the chambers.
The Oven is having range from ambient plus 10°C to 200°C and fitted
with variable digital temperature controller to maintain temperature at
163°C + 1°C. An external motor with shaft is fitted to rotate the
platform at a speed of 5 to 6 rpm and also an Air Circulating Fan to
maintain the sensitivity of + 1°C in the test chamber. The Door of the
Oven body is fitted with toughened glass for viewing the samples
during the test.

Quality Standard : As Per IS 1203

Specification :
Penetration Apparatus are used for testing bitumen, tar, cement and
soils. A Chosen force is applied over a given area for a known period
of time and the depth of penetration or the depression made in the
sample is measured in tenths of a millimeter which is expressed as a
penetration number. An accurately machined aluminium base with in-
set spirit level has been designed to facilitate penetration tests to be

NAME : Bitumen Extraction Test Apparatus
Specification :
For determining bitumen percentage in Bituminous paving mixtures. It
has a removable, precision machined, aluminium rotor bowl, mounted
on a vertical shaft. A filter paper disc is pressed in-between the rotor
bowl and cover plate by tightening a knurled nut. The bowl assembly
is enclosed in a housing operating model; the rotor bowl is coupled to
a motor. The solvent may be introduced during test through a cup on

Flash & Fire Point Apparatus used for determining the flash point of

Description: Conforms to A.S.T.M.D : 2172 The centrifugal extractor designed for 1.5 kgs.of sample mix. It is a
safe and portable unit for accurate determination of bitumen percentage, character and gradation of aggregates
in field operations. The centrifuge is a cast aluminium rotor bowl, mounted on a vertical shaft and enclosed
inside a leak tight housing. The rotor is bowl shaped and can be removed for weight determination. The gears
operate in an oil bath, with splash lubrication.Supplied without filter discs and solvent.

BITUMINOUS TEST LM17706 : DUCTILITY TESTING APPARATUS

Description: Electrically operated design to carry out test on three specimens simultaneously. The body made of
hard wood is lined with stainless steel, having two rates of travel i.e. 5 cm./min. and 1 cm./min. The equipment
is fitted with a water circulator and heater. The temperature is controlled thermostatically. The apparatus is
supplied with three ductility mould along with one extra mould with base plate. Wired for 230V., sph. 50 Hz.

BITUMINOUS TEST LM17707 : STANDARD PENETROMETER

Description: Conforms to IS : 1203 The unit consists of a vertical pillar mounted on a base, provided with
levelling screws. The dial gauge rod fitted either with cone or needle, slides on a pillar and can be clamped at
required hight. The dial gauge is graduated to 400 divisions with 0.1 mm. least count. Supplied with 50 and 100
gms. wts.
BITUMINOUS TEST LM17708 : AUTOMATIC PENETROMETER

Description: Similar to LM17707, but supplied with electro-controlled plunger locking device to control

penetration time in seconds.

BITUMINOUS TEST LM17709 : RING AND BALL APPARATUS

Description: Conforms to IS :1205 This apparatus is used to determine the softening point of bituminous
materials such as asphalts and tar. It consists of : Steel balls 9.5 mm. diameter _ 2 nos. Tapered brass ring _ 2
nos. Ball Guide _ 2 nos. Ring holder _ 1 no. The bath is of heat resistance glass beaker I.D. 85 mm.and depth

BITUMINOUS TEST LM17710 : RING AND BALL APPARATUS (ELECTRICALLY HEATED)

Description: Similar to LM17709, but supplied with a heating unit with an energy regulator for temperature. An
electrically operated stirrer mounted on a stand with chuck and glass rod for stirring water in the bath. Wired for
230V., sph. 50 Hz.
BITUMINOUS TEST LM17711 : TAR VISCOMETER FOR 4 MM. ORIFICE (ELECTRICAL)

Description: Conforms to IS : 1206 The viscometer is suitable to determine the viscosity of tar and cut back
bitumen. The unit comprises of : Copper water bath crome platted with a drain valve and central tube to receive
the test cup and to position the stirrer. Manually operated stirrer. Thermometer. Swivel support for the valve.
