JOSE RIZAL’S PASSION & MARTYRDOM: IT’s RELEVANCE TO THE PHILIPPINE

The passion and dedication that was shown by Jose Rizal, the Philippine’s national
hero, is unparalleled and often hard to replicate, even as every Filipino is bound to
emulate his example and honor the ultimate sacrifice that he had given to his
countrymen.

The love of country is foremost in Rizal’s mind and throughout his achievement in
terms of scholarly endeavour as well professional milestone, he did not forget the
longings and yearnings of his fellow Filipinos, who were at that time greatly suffering
from oppression and cruel subjugation by foreign conquests, from the often punishing
hands of the Spanish conquistadores.

What great sacrifice that he had shown that almost every Filipino should be proud of
and should always put in mind.

Rizal had been born from a very rich family and had grown himself into a very
successful practitioner or medicine as well as in literature. He had in his hands more
than enough wealth to live a life of pleasure and comfort.

But he did not turn his back against his countrymen and had fought bravely and openly
made protestation against the cruelty of conquest thru his writings as well as thru his
spoken words.

Even at the face of death, which in fact his life had ended up to, thru the bullets that had
pierced his body, he did not retreat nor shown any form of surrender.

This is how Rizal had become the foremost example of a very great Filipino, of how the
love of country should propel each and every one of us to seek the greater interest of
the country and of fellowmen instead of pursuing self-interest, thru the practice of graft
and corruption, immorality, impropriety, of cheating the government and the people, of
committing great crimes that brings more and more of our countrymen into
despondency and poverty and endless suffering.

Jose Rizal is the ever foremost great example for every Filipino to emulate and follow in
order for the our society to improve and reach higher level of progress and
development.
