I. Introduction

Jose Rizal became a Philippine national hero because he fought for freedom in a quiet but
effective manner. Rather than employing force or aggression, he used his writings, essays,
and articles to express his love for the Philippines. He was a wonderful man at the time. He
was humble, preferring to struggle for reform through his works rather than revolution.
Rather of being combative, he applied his intellect, talents, and skills in a more peaceful
approach.
Despite the fact that he had never fought in a battle, he was known for his calm and gentle
manner. The majority of the world's heroes attained that rank as a result of their military
achievements. It was never done by Rizal. He was using his pen to criticize the Spanish
government's management of the Philippines. He pushed to have the Philippines represented
in the Spanish Cortes on a permanent basis. That's why, when the United States accepted the
Philippines as a vassal state, the Governor General of the Philippines, Gen. Taft, named Jose
Rizal as the country's National Hero, in order to calm the battling spirit of the Filipinos
fighting for independence at the time.
Rizal formed a progressive organization called the La Liga Filipina. This civic movement
advocated social reforms through legal means. Now Rizal was considered even more of a
threat by the Spanish authorities (alongside his novels and essays), which ultimately led to his
exile in Dapitan in northern Mindanao.
Noli Me Tangere by Jose Rizal has become largely regarded as the great novel of the
Philippines in the more than a century after its publication. "The Noli," as it is known in the
Philippines, is a passionate love story set against the ugly political backdrop of repression,
torture, and murder. It was the first major artistic manifestation of Asian resistance to
European colonialism, and Rizal became a guiding conscience and martyr for the revolution
that would rise up in the Spanish province.
Dr. José Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines, is not only admired for possessing
intellectual brilliance but also for taking a stand and resisting the Spanish colonial
government. While his death sparked a revolution to overthrow the tyranny, Rizal will always
be remembered for his compassion towards the Filipino people and the country.
II. Body

Being a national hero who represents all of us and provides a continual guiding light to what
a country's residents should aim to be. What if Rizal became the Philippines' chief of state in
the present day, knowing he possessed the potential to be a great leader? According to the
respondents, if Rizal were elected president in this generation, he would be a magnificent
president. The Philippines would become more powerful, well-known, and developed.
Furthermore, the interviewees answered different point of view regarding if Rizal was in
favor to the younger generation developing other culture. Interviewees agreed maybe because
Rizal would let the younger generation develop other culture but not to a point of patronizing
it, this development is not to left and forgot our own culture but rather for adaptation of the
new gen that could help our culture be improved for the betterment of the Filipino and the
Philippines. Everyone would patronize and practiced our very own culture at the same time
getting advances from others and Rizal always believe in wisdom and youth can do. As a
president of one country, we know that change is always not an option but something to bear
with and so for asking regarding developing something the response will always agree and, so
that he says "ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan" because he is more confident that children
nowadays can manage to sustain and protect the culture we are in now. On the other hand,
some of them was disagreed probably because based on their observations of his traits and
principles Rizal was completely enticed with the idea of preserving old culture in its original
form however, there is a chance that Rizal will allow the younger generation to explore other
cultures as long as the old one remains in their hearts and is still practiced by men and
women. Also, Rizal wants us to preserve our own culture, because he believed that preserving
and loving our own culture was the most important thing and our own culture is our identity
as a citizen of this nation.
Lastly, with regards in corruption does Rizal will become corrupt leader in this modern
world? The majority answers are positive. Based on their perception they don’t think that
Rizal became a corrupt leader for some instances Rizal have done numerous engagement
inside and outside the country for the sake of the Philippines and his fellow Filipino even
without political position but rather his pure sense of patronization, for instances the things he
have done and invented in Dapitan for the sake of the people of the particular town, his
studies in different countries were done all for the Philippines and his writings abroad that
implicates the Philippines' state under the friars and other colonizers to seek help from other
country and powerful people. He had sacrificed a lot even his self all for the betterment of the
Filipino people so if Rizal would be a Philippine leader. He knows how to live with a corrupt
government, and he knows how poor he would be if he chose to become the person he fought
against previously. I know Rizal came from a well-known and wealthy family, but he still
experienced poverty and difficulties; his heart will be eternally dedicated to the poor, and he
will not allow any of them to suffer to the point where they must choose between death and
life and Rizal is a man of wisdom, integrity and dignity. It is evident on the couple of times he
was placed in danger due to the La Liga Filipina, his writings and associations he has. But
even a single note he did not perform any act that will damage his integrity. Likewise, even
placed into this era he will definitely maintain the same value. However, many previous
leaders said that they are not corrupt but they end up to be one of those corrupt officials. We
do not know what will Rizal becomes when he will be our leader. Maybe he's good and clean
but what if he's cabinet or allies are the corrupt one? We should think that leadership is not
always linear to what the leader wants to accomplish. There are obstacles of leadership that
the leader needs to confront when the time comes his leadership is being tested and a failure
to satisfy one’s request or a request of a certain group of people doesn’t mean that a leader is
corrupt.

III. Conclusion
Giving the fact that Rizal have an exceptional characteristic to become a great leader during
his time, so therefore I believe Rizal will become a great one if he given a chance to live and
elect to be a leader in this modern society because based on their answers Rizal is
considerable as a whole person with a potential to become an excellent leader, knowing that
Rizal possesses moral integrity, credibility and erudite mind. Plus, he is highly educated,
cultured and welltravelled, above all, he is a patriot. Moreover, Rizal will become more likely
favorable to the young generation developing other culture because as we lived in the modern
society, we need to look forward the other culture as to become not ignorant and at the same
time our country will never left behind in terms to the improvement of society at the same
time the young generation should also possessed and be passionate in our own customs,
traditions and culture as for our country identity will never become faded and this will be
appreciation to our accentors legacy. Lastly, Rizal will not definitely become a corrupt leader
since we know what his truly desire to the Philippines since time immemorial and his attitude
towards to his duties for our country. We appreciated his capability and we admire his
braveness fighting our country against to all abusive people however we also never know if
the other cabinets or other people who works in the government should also possess the same
attitude and ability of Rizal. In general, I cannot see the corruption will be the part of his
desire since that all his decisions imposed to the country would be for all the advances of the
Filipino and the Philippines itself.
Nothing more but only for the Philippines and the people.
