THE STUDY AND IMPORTANCE OF THE RIZAL LAW AND ITS IMPLICATION IN THE
Republic Act No. 1425 also known as the Rizal Law is that states all Philippine educational
institutes, both public and private, must study Jose Rizal’s life and works, specifically Noli Me Tangere
and El Filibusterismo. The ones who made this Law was Senator Claro M. Recto and Jose P. Laurel, who
defend the bill until it was passed as an act in May of 1956. The reason why the Law was created is to
appreciate the works of Rizal and to honor, not only Rizal, but to the other heroes who died for the sake of
our freedom against the invaders. His works are a brilliant example of nationalism or the love for his
country, patriotism or his admiration for the people he met that shows greatness beyond their simple
façade and volunteerism or his willingness to change the corrupted status quo and continued to do till the
bitter end.
Jose &. Laurel, the person who supported the law, stated that since Rizal was the creator of
Philippine patriotism and has contributed significantly to the current state of this country, it is only fitting
that the adolescent as well as all individuals in the country consider and figure out how to guzzle the
extraordinary goals for which he passed on. Patriotism refers to the desire to seek opportunity and
political independence, particularly by a nation under foreign rule, while nationalism refers to joyful
The study of Rizal’s life and works could be arguably harming back in the day. Today’s day in age
most of the Filipino’s would be dared to say “woke”, we are aware of social issues we are aware of the
possible changes given the fact that we just held a Presidential Elections not long ago. In regards of
Nationalism, Patriotism, and volunteerism, the study of Rizal life we see how he portrays how he is a
Nationalist, A patriot and a volunteer. He defended during his time the Filipinos that are so called “Indios”
and united with different Filipinos in his stay and studies overseas. There he established a group called
“Kidlat Club” that consists of young Filipinos specifically in Paris. You could say that it’s a way to be a
patriot being with Filipinos and be able to have a piece of their own culture overseas. Rizal most
significant work would be his writing of the books “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Fili Busterismo”. To
summarize he write these books to combat our captors notably the colonizers and the Christian church
back then. These book help revolutionized and inspired Filipinos to act. To free themselves from the
captors of them. This act is arguably the most Nationalistic thing he have done, and the most significant
part of our own history. Rizal’s Volunteerism a way of moral helping could be tied to his desire to achieve
a certain degree of knowledge not only for him but for those people that he shares his knowledge and
philosophies. Again, his acts against the Spaniards colonizers would be said that it’s a form of
Volunteerism.
The study Rizal’s life and his works would not be any more harmful and be dangerous, in the
contrary we could take a lesson about his Nationalism, Patriotism, and volunteerism, to further embrace
who we are as a nation and who we are as a person. The argument of the Catholic church about this
course or study to be mandatory would not bring any more damage to the youth its quiet the opposite.
The catholic church is already ours by that it means its already tied to the identity of the Philippines and
what kind of organization or religion would harm their own people. Then the works and history of our own
volunteerism? I would like to believe Yes; it has sensitive issues related to the church and its priests. The
reason the church opposes the implementation of the Rizal Law is that it does not want its image to be
tarnished in the eyes of its followers. But I think we are old enough to know the truth and to believe our
own opinions on this matter. Thus, must know the truth and what really happened. While his writings
expose the church’s wrongdoing, they play an important role in our history. It gives you an idea of how
people lived, how they were treated and how they fought the Spaniards. Also, his writings talk about his
life, his opinions, his thoughts, his lovers, and above all how he loves his country. Learning all this will
strengthen the nationalism, patriotism, and spirit of volunteerism in this country. Through the life of Jose
Rizal, we get to know how he faces the different challenges of his life. Show that you can show love for
your country without resorting to violence or guns. Although he encountered serious dilemmas and
predicaments in his life, Jose Rizal responded with courtesy and arrogance
How important are literary criticisms in the study of Rizal’s life and work? I first learned of Jose
Rizal in the first grade. Any teacher or parent would have taught their child who a national hero is. As a
student, I was never interested in Rizal, other than another name I had to remember in case his name
happened to be the answer to an exam question. In high school I learned more about his life and works,
especially his Noli Me Tangere and his El Filibusterismo. I didn't really like it at first, but I've come to
appreciate it. Now that I am taking a course on Rizal's life and work, I have learned to admire him more. I
was not interested in how it affected the life of our national hero. I enjoy discovering new things. There is
no myth that an individual's actions and thoughts are the result of all the influences in that person's life.
That's why it's important to talk about these places, people, and events in Rizal's life. By the end of this
report, you should understand why Rizal is Rizal and why he is considered a national hero in the
Philippines.
We can learn a lot from Rizal’s approach to life's obstacles. He encountered severe challenges
and predicaments yet reacted honestly and ethically, making him a controversial character in his day. We
may learn about his goals and principles by looking at the significant decisions he made during his life,
which show how noble, altruistic, and magnificent the national hero was. For example, his frequent
resolves mirrored the adage that there are things more essential in life than personal sentiments and
happiness. Nonetheless, it is really successful in encouraging us students to be good citizens, and when
Dr. Rizal says, "Youth is the Hope of the Fatherland," it stimulates everyone who hears it to be more
accountable and to love our country. It inspires and influences not only students, but all young people, to
be law-abiding citizens who are selfless and socially responsible for the wellbeing of the country. Through
the basic decisions he made in his life, we can recognize his needs and emotions which show how good,
conciliatory, and uncommon the public legend was. Opening the eyes of each Filipino on what's going on
in our nation. Furthermore, that what causes me to presume that actualizing Rizal Law is significant. By
executing Rizal Law, the adolescent will learn numerous exercises and motivations with his works. The
guideline of "the pen is mightier than the blade". Also, above all else, his adoration for his nation.
If given a chance to deconstruct one of Rizal’s works (both well-known and obscure), what would
it be and what is its relations to analysis and understanding of nation-building? I believe, if I were given
that chance, I deconstruct Noli Me Tangere. Just because it gives us an insight in the lives of various
people with different social standings and situations. It helps us understand the peoples strangles and
hardships and see the state of the world through their perspectives. So we can better find solutions to
This, in my opinion, is very helpful, especially in uplifting our "maka-Pilipino" spirits and reminding
us to recall the past and pay respect to Jose Rizal. I am aware that discussing historical events aamight
be a little tedious because there are so many dates, names, and events that are difficult for us to recall
because we haven't encountered or experienced them. However, I think that his law made it more
interesting by including novels, other works, and the story of Rizal's life because these subjects have
hidden meanings in relation to their creation, to society (past, present, and future), and to the story of the
man with a great mind who expressed his ideas and fought for our nationality through his writings until his
death.
