The main political and constitutional issues in the state of Georgia during 1850s were the
slavery laws and the interpretation of the laws which presents federal versus state powers
indicated unrest in it as a member of United States. There was a great tension during this period
in Georgia because of unacceptance in changing the slavery trade laws by the state authorities.
The state of Georgia constituted laws which illegalized the slave trade was the main cause
of tension in it. The issue deepened as the constituted law had no option for the federal
