"Constitutional and political issues in 1850s in the US"

The main political and constitutional issues in the state of Georgia during 1850s were the

slavery laws and the interpretation of the laws which presents federal versus state powers

indicated unrest in it as a member of United States. There was a great tension during this period

in Georgia because of unacceptance in changing the slavery trade laws by the state authorities.

The state of Georgia constituted laws which illegalized the slave trade was the main cause

of tension in it. The issue deepened as the constituted law had no option for the federal

authorities to alter it. Moreover, Georgia also incited other countries to do the opt the similar

laws and abolished the trading system entirely (Truth, 2018). For this, it developed a strict course

of action and applied penalties over the people or organizations that found guilty of supporting

the slavery act. Georgia showed reluctance against the popular sovereignty process of the federal

government that allowed the right to hold or free the slave.

The state of Georgia went on to argument and conflict with the free states when the

holders of slave arise their voices and urged the states to build allegiance. The issue increased as

the time passed and it was debated consistently at the national level by the two major political

parties in the election campaign. However, these debates were proved to be fruitful in resolving

the conflict in the future as they enlightened the United States against the merits and demerits of

the anti-slavery laws.
