For this assignment, use Canva to create (2) blog headers that
will double as sharable social-media graphics:

1. Scenario for blog header #1: You just wrote an educational blog post
on a sub-topic of personal financial management. The blog post is
entitled “10 Tips on Leaving Tips.”
2. Scenario for blog header #2: You just wrote a blog post entitled “Dog
Food That’ll Make Rover Roll Over.” The purpose of this blog post is to
share the benefits of a specific brand of dog food.
Set up an account

• Go to Canva.com
• Sign up for the service
• Set up an account
• Opt to use as a student
• Confirm your email address
Size it up
• Set the dimensions for one blog header at 1200 x
628 (ideal for LinkedIn sharing)
• Set the dimensions for the other blog header at
1080 x 1350 (ideal for Instagram sharing)
Design your blog headers
• Benchmark the best blog headers/social
media graphics. Do some background research!
What does a good blog header look like?
• Both of your blog headers should be:
• Simple
• Colorful (mind the contrast)
• Attention-grabbing
• Professional
• Capture the subject of each blog post in your
headers
• Use elements such as color, contrast,
photography, iconography, typography, etc.
to create the right vibe for each header
• Important: Include the title of the blog post in
the header image

• Take time to explore, experiment, and make mistakes


• Take time to research, seek out advice, watch tutorials, etc.
• Have fun!

You may work with a classmate, but your designs should be


clearly different. No copying.
Export your headers as JPEGs
Emailing & Grading

• Email your two JPEGs to cgmedenw@uark.edu by the due date


• Your grade will be based on:
1. Effort
2. Compliance with instructions
3. Application of course principles: color contrast, simplicity, etc.
4. Whether the header is truly attention-grabbing
5. Whether the header relates to the subject of the blog post
