INTRODUCTION
Many people are dependent on alcohol, which can lead to problems in their
life. And when a person brought this to the workplace it becomes a major
problem. The management of alcohol in the workplace can pose ethical
dilemmas for an employer (Shahandeh & Husbands, 2011). Employees who use
alcohol on the job creates an even greater risk and these individuals do the most
to create a hazardous situation (Jacobs & Schain, 2010).

This problem has raised because there was a substance abuse which affected
employees’ absenteeism and eventually affected the quality of products and
services and a decline in profit margins. Alcohol use, and abuse, negatively
affects workplace safety and productivity (Looney, 2011).

This prompted the researchers to conduct a case study on drinking on a

workplace and to create an adoption of policy which prohibits drinking in the
workplace and imposes sanctions on employees that will be found under the
influence of alcohol and illegal drugs.

In order to execute the study, the researchers considered three factors in

developing a recommendation management decision, employee’s behavior,
and peers. Problem in drinking on the workplace can be dealt with the following
process: there would be strict criteria to be followed by the management in
hiring employees – making sure that they only hire the well-mannered,
committed and dedicated ones with excellent skills and capabilities and
knowledge about the company. Management should be improving their
processes and services in order to be at par or even go beyond with the other
competitors in order to become sustainable even in bad situations.
Management should conduct team building activities in order to strengthen the
bond between and among employees and management so that communication
lines can be open to all and they would be comfortable working with each other.
There should be a strict implementation of the policy in order to give the
employees a lesson and give ultimatum to those who are habitually doing it.
