Abstract

An office chair, or desk chair, is a type of chair that is designed for use at a desk in an office. It is
usually a swivel chair (rolling chair), with a set of wheels for mobility and adjustable height. Modern
office chairs typically use a single, distinctive load bearing leg (often called a gas lift), which is
positioned underneath the chair seat. Near the floor this leg spreads out into several smaller feet,
which are often wheeled and called casters. Office chair is mainly susceptible to static and dynamic
loading throughout its life the static plus the fatigue loading cause failure of roller in away Brittle-like
crack propagation caused failure in a rubber office-chair roller. A crack initiated from the inside
of the roller and propagated in a discontinuous brittle-like fashion, as indicated from the
evolution of concentric fracture striations. Compressive fatigue was a dominant mode of loading.
Another kind of loading that cause failure in the office chair is failure of connector (that connect
the seat cushion with the back rest cusion) due to impact plus dynamic load.in this paper the
explicit analysis of rolling office chair is carried oput by
