objectives. b. compute the possible measures of the angles
on triangle inequality;
c. appreciate the importance of exterior angle

II. ACTIVITY:
Thank you. Class, I have here an activity for you ( students are counting)
to answer. This activity consists 4 groups. So, I
want you to group into 4 so please count 1 to 4
start from the right side.

Now, proceed to your groupmates silently, form (Going to their groupmates silently.)
a circle and please don’t drag the chairs.

This activity will take only 10 minutes. After that, Okay ma’am.
each group will select a representative to present
your work and a secretary to write the members
of a group.

Time is up. Present your answer in front. ( representative of each group present their answer)

III. ANALYSIS:
So, class how was the activity? It’s fun ma’am.
Did you enjoy it? Yes, ma’am.
Did you find it difficult or easy? At first, it’s difficult ma’am but later we find it easy.

What makes it difficult? In finding the measures of an angle.

What makes it easy? It’s easy in naming the exterior angle.

That’s good to hear. So, based on the activity, When the angles that form linear pairs with the
what do you mean by exterior angle? interior angles of a triangle when the sides of the
triangle are extended are the exterior angles.

How you were able to obtain the angles that are In finding the measure of the exterior angle. We add
missing? the two remote interior angle. And finding the
measure of the linear pair we subtracted the
measure of the exterior angle by 180°.

That’s right! So, how were you able to come up Through cooperation ma’am.
with those conclusions with the given time limit?

Alright! Cooperation is indeed essential in group

activities. Good job everyone.
IV. ABSTRACTION:
Our activity is about discovering the triangle
inequality theorem involving angle of a triangle.
Before doing it, let us know first the definition of
an exterior angle of a triangle.
L
.

M
N P
̅̅̅̅̅ ̅̅̅̅̅
By extending 𝑀𝑁 of △LMN to a point P, 𝑀𝑃 Lis
formed. As a result, ∠LNP forms a linear pair with
one of the angles of △LMN, ∠LNP referred to as
an exterior angle of △LMN. The angles non –
adjacent to ∠LNP, ∠𝐿 and∠𝑀, are called remote
interior angles of exterior∠𝐿𝑁𝑃. The measure of
an exterior angle in a triangle is the sum of the
measures of the two remote interior angles.

1 3 4

m∠1 + m ∠2 = m∠4
m∠3 = 180 - m∠4

V. APPLICATION:

What do you think the importance of It is important for us to study the exterior angle
exterior angle inequality theorem in a inequality theorem in a triangle so that we can able
triangle? to know how to find measures of different kinds
triangular shapes.
That’s right! This lesson is useful. Who
knows in the future you can be an
engineer or a carpenter. When you
make a table, houses and etc. You can
use this theorem.
