ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this assignment is to enable students the opportunity to apply in practice the
strategic facilities management concept as an added value to the traditional of facility management.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:


1. Apply the various tools and innovative techniques in managing facilities.
2. Perform strategic analysis methods in facility management.
3. Perform Facility Audit to ensure facility performances and fulfill the organisation needs.

QUESTION 1

Based on previous research, there are insufficient effort that has been made to identify the qualities
needed to enable the facilities manager to be regularly involved in the property development
industry as well as to optimize the value of facility manager in all stages of the development process.
Tucker and Masuri (2016) presented the rationale to integrate facility management (FM) into the
development process (DP) based on the best practices applied in the property development industry
in the UK perspective.

Grounded on the above statement, answer the following tasks:

a) Introduction on the current property development industry in Malaysia and the overview of FM-
DP integration framework.

b) Conduct literature reviews to identify at least FIVE critical strategic issues that hinder the
integration of facilities management into the development process.

c) Make a comparison between Malaysia and ONE country on the FM experience in property
development industry.

d) Conclusion and recommendations based on the findings of the literature reviews and
comparisons of the FM experience in property development industry.
