Description
The BG Micro Geophone is a very sensitive vibration
detector and meter. The entire Geophone system is
comprised of the following items:

• Geophone vibration pickup

• Electronic meter display with adjustable sensitivity
• Power supply 3-25VDC, 100mA

The electronic meter display is shown in figure 1.

The power supply is attached to the connector block J2.

Please observe the correct polarity. The outside contact Notes:
(nearest the left edge of the board) is the positive wire.

The geophone pickup is attached to the connector block J3.

The positive wire from the geophone pickup is on the right.

J1 is a jumper that selects the display mode. Attaching the

provided jumper over the two pins selects “bar” mode, where
the line of LEDs forms a bar graph in response to the
vibration detected by the pickup. Removing the jumper
selects “dot” mode, where a single LED is illuminated to
indicate the present level. Since the pickup provides an AC
input signal, this mode is probably not as visually informative
as the “bar” mode, but you still have the option to change it if
you wish.

R1 adjusts the sensitivity of the display.
