Ethics

Ethics are the moral principles that govern a person’s behavior or the conducting

of an activity. In short, they are what helps us determine what is right and what is wrong. Ethics

are instilled in you at many different times in your life. You first learn ethics from your parents.

They built the foundation to the ethics you will carry for the rest of your life.

The next place you learn ethics is in school. Here you are no longer just

interacting with your parents but with people of different ages. You act one way with you

parents then you do with your teacher or even your classmates. When you are in school you

learn to interact within society and apply those ethics. Yes, you will act different depending on

who you speak with, but the foundation of your ethics will always be there.

You choose how you want to be and what ethics or values you want to follow.

Once you become an adult you have to apply your ethics based on your job. When performing a

job, you need to follow your ethics to make sure you aren’t doing anything doing anything

against the rules. For example, having good values will prevent you from committing a crime

like embezzling money. If you work in accounting, it will prevent you from stealing from the

company. Ethics is the moral compass that we learn throughout our lifetime from when we are

young until we die.
