Pot Plants YUCCA

Freestyle Embroidery is used here for the leaves of the Yucca to ensure a
natural looking plant. Create slightly triangular shaped leaves by using the
YOU WILL NEED: same hole at the top of the leaf to create a point. 262 / Freestyle Sst / 3
1 x 5” Embroidery Hoop strands.
Calico Fabric (medium weight, close weave) The trunk of the Yucca plant is created by using 358 / Sst / 3 strands
Scissors The Plant Pot is created using horizontal Sst and thread 1019 / 3 strands.
Needle (darner or embroidery needles work best) The outline of the pot is achieved with 403 Bst / 2 strands.
Fabric pen to transfer the design

Most of the elements use less than the full 6 strands of thread so you will
need to split your length of thread before beginning each element.
KEY:
Sst – Satin Stitch
Bst – Back Stitch
FreeBst – Freestyle Back Stitch
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Begin by securing the fabric in the embroidery hoop
2. Cut out the circle template and place it behind the fabric so you can
trace the design onto the fabric using the embroidery pen. Just draw the
basic shape as shown on the picture.
SNAKE PLANT
Begin with the dark green (268) 3 strands / Sst. We would recommend do-
ing all the dark green before going on to the lighter green.
Next, fill in the gaps with the light green (241) 3 strands / Sst. Don’t leave a
gap between the dark and light greens.
Next you are going to outline each leaf you have just stitched with the
yellow (293) using FreeBst / 2 strand. This involves doing an irregular back
stitch so you may have some stitches longer than others as you go around
each leaf.
The Plant Pot is created using horizontal Sst and thread 309 / 3 strands. The
outline of the pot is achieved with 403 Bst / 2 strands.
SIDEBOARD
Each element of the sideboard uses 3 strands and Sst.
The main sideboard colour is 360
The sideboard handle is 309
The sideboard drawer colour is 887, as are the legs.
Once you have completed all of the Sst. Outline the legs of the sideboard
with 360 / Bst / 2 Strands.
The outline of the sideboard and handle is 403 / Bst / 2 Strands
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
All our threads are produced in accordance with Oeko-Tex standards. PH
values are tested and all our colour dye lots adhere to Global fastness stand-
ards. However, it is important to follow our thread washing instructions. Par-
ticularly with dark colors, excess dye can remain on the thread. To minimise
any potential bleeding of excess dyestuff it is important to wash the products
in THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURE possible, in accordance with the speci-
fications of the fabrics, and use a large amount of water. Please make sure
that you also follow the fabric washing instructions where appropriate. As a
precaution, you can also use decolorating sheets that you can find in any
supermarket.

PHILODENDRON
Begin with the leaves using 845 / 3 strands / Sst. We found it easier to start
with the centre smallest stitch and then do either side of the leaf – it meant
the leaves stayed as symmetrical as possible.
The Plant Pot is both 213 and 1007 / 3 strands / Sst. Start with the white
middle section.
Afterwards, outlines the pot with 403 / Bst / 2 Strands.
