CHAPTER 1

Background of the study/ introduction

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance cameras are widely used in policing, but that use is
controversial. The United Kingdom (UK) government has described CCTV as “vital” for detecting
offenders (Porter 2016), while the Washington, DC. On the other side of the debate, the campaign
group (Liberty 2016) argued that extensive use of CCTV “poses a threat to our way of life” and that
“widespread visual surveillance may well have a chilling effect on free speech and activity”.

The results section will describe how often CCTV has been useful in crime investigations, and in what
circumstances.

Researchers have also taken advantage of opportunities afforded by naturally occurring social
occurrences to reduce problems of endogeneity, when the allocation of CCTV is correlated with
unobserved factors that determine crime (Alexandrie, 2017). This increased rigor of the CCTV literature
has offered far more insight to help guide policy and practice

Purpose of the study

The intent of this study is to assess the principal, guards, teachers and students about the conditions
and concerns and some other related benefits that the students will earned. Quantitative method of
research is used in the study. A qualitative research scrutinizes the perspective of people regarding a
certain topic. It is based on the discernment of the person or group of people surveyed. This method of
research is deemed appropriate for the study.

2. How will affect the monitoring CCTV to those who are managing school security?

Significance of the study

To the students. This study will help to ensure the safety of every student at Lecheria National High
School and to boost their confidence and to give additional understanding and motivation that they are
safety inside the Lecheria National High School property.

To the Principal and Teacher’s. This study might help teacher’s and the Principal to understand the
possible improvement of the school security to ensure the safety of every students in Lecheria National
High School also it will improvised the cooperation of the principal to the teacher.

To the school. The findings of the study might enlighten the school to see the failure or the
deffectiveness of the CCTV camera’s in Lecheria National High School and also appriciate the students
complain about this issue.

Scope and delimitation

This research is focused on the study of the security of the students in Lecheria National High School and
also the school security camera & surveillance in Lecheria National High School. This study centers the
assurance of the students and teacher safety and this will be improved the teacher – student
cooperation with each other.

In particular only the teachers’s, principal and guards in Lecheria National High School are being studied.

Definition of terms

Surveillance - involves the act of observing a scene or scenes and looking for specific behaviors that are
improper or that may indicate the emergence or existence of improper behavior.

Researchers - someone who studies a subject, especially in order to discover new information or reach a
new understanding.

Acquired people - with respect to any specified Person, any other Person which merges with or into or
becomes a Subsidiary of such specified Person.

Crime prevention - is the attempt to reduce and deter crime and criminals. It is applied specifically to
efforts made by governments to reduce crime, enforce the law, and maintain criminal justice.

Quantitative research - is defined as a systematic investigation of phenomena by gathering quantifiable

data and performing statistical, mathematical, or computational techniques. Quantitative research
collects information from existing and potential customers using sampling methods and sending out
online surveys, online polls, questionnaires, etc., the results of which can be depicted in the form of
numerical. After careful understanding of these numbers to predict the future of a product or service
and make changes accordingly.
