FACTORS THAT AFFECT PERFORMANCE IN MATHEMATICS BY GIO STUDENTS IN

PNHS

Chapter I

INTRODUCTION

Performance is the action or process of carrying out accomplishing an action, task or

function. Mathematics is the study of numbers, shapes and patterns.

Some students nowadays are suffering difficulties in performing some task in Mathematics. I

think one of the reason is they did not take up the topic that they are discussing. They become

forgetful about the past lesson. And by that case they become shy to recite because they don’t

have nay or right ideas about the topic that they will going to present.

What are the possible factors that affect the performance of the students? The factors that

negatively affect students, performance the most are missing too many lectures. There have been

many studies that sought to examine this issue and their findings point out to had work and self

motivation. As their findings point out to hard work and self motivation as factors that have a

significant affect on the students. Some students doesn’t have enough confidence to stand with

their own. They have thoughts that they can’t make it and they are also scared being judge by the

people around them so that they prefer not to try it once.
