Aim: To discover how light can affect plant growth

Apparatus:

 Three kidney bean

 Wet napkin
 Measuring tape
 Shoe box
 Pair of scissors

Diagram:
Method:

1. A plastic cup was lined with wet napkin.

2. Three kidney beans were placed inside the plastic cup and left for one day.
3. A small hole was cut into a shoebox.
4. The germinated beans were placed in the box as far away from the hole as possible.
5. The experiment was left for two days in sunlight.
6. Observations were made about the height of the seedlings.
7. The box lid was replaced and left for a further two days

OBSERVATION:

It was observed that after three days the seedlings germinated. A little root was
seen emerging from the kidney bean. Then the embryo of the seedlings burst out of
the seed coating towards the sunlight causing the plant to be bent in the direction of
the small hole in the shoebox.
