This Alert represents a change in warranty coverage, claim processing, or claim administrative
procedures. This change will be reflected in the QuickServe Online version of the Warranty

PURPOSE: To update WAM Procedure 111-502-016, Oil Consumption, to include ISG11/12 and
QSG12 engines.

Coverage Eligibility
Coverage of oil consumption is dependent on the number of miles/hours accumulated on the
engine.
0 — 25,000 Miles / 40,233 Kilometers / 800 Hours
• Oil consumption exceeding the limits defined in the table on the previous page must be
documented by the customer. Use Form 4755 for customer oil consumption data.
• On B series engines, oil must have been added at least three times to verify consumption rate.
On other engines, oil consumption documentation must show oil has been added at least three
different times, and must total 12 quarts/11 litres/10 imperial quarts to verify consumption rate.
• Prior to engine disassembly, complete a pre-teardown inspection report, Form 5706. Leaks
must be repaired and oil consumption verified again, before making covered repairs.
• The engine qualifies for repair if no leaks are found, oil usage exceeds limits and the engine
or parts are within applicable coverage period.
• Oil usage will be calculated from the final documented period (B series, last 3 adds) (Other
engines, last 12 qts./11 litres/10 imperial quarts).
After 25,000 Miles / 40,233 Kilometers / 800 Hours
• Coverage expires at the end of base warranty unless a Customized Assurance Plan is
purchased. Oil consumption coverage is limited to 100,000 miles / 160,935 kilometers for 6B
and C series engines, 50,000 miles/80,467 kilometers for 4B series engines, and a maximum
of 3 years, 300,000 miles/482,805 kilometers on other engines.
• Oil consumption exceeding the limits defined in the previous table must be documented by
the customer. Use Form 4755 for customer oil consumption data.
• On B series engines, oil must have been added at least five times to verify consumption rate.
On other engines, oil consumption documentation must show oil has been added at least five
different times, and must total 20 quarts/19 litres/17 imperial quarts to verify consumption rate.
• Prior to engine disassembly, complete a pre-teardown inspection report, Form 5706. Leaks
must be repaired and oil consumption verified again, before making covered repairs.
• The engine qualifies for repair if no leaks are found, oil usage exceeds limits and the engine
or parts are within applicable coverage period.
• Repairs must be made no later than 10,000 miles / 16,093 kilometers / 320 hours after the
last documented oil check.
• Oil usage will be calculated from the final documented period (B series, last five adds).
(Other engines, last 20 quarts/19 litres/17 imperial quarts).
Cost of Oil Consumption
Cummins does not bear the expense of performing prechecks.
The cost of oil consumed at any time is the responsibility of the customer.
