CHAPTER VIII

Findings, Conclusions and Recommendations

This chapter presents findings, conclusions, and recommendations based on

the data gathered and presented.

8.1 Findings

Municipality of Polillo lies on the southeast part of Luzon facing Lamon Bay,

situated in the eastern part of Quezon Province. Polillo is a quiet coastal municipality

that teems with rich and natural environment and is economically dependent on

agricultural, fishing and tourism resources.

The approach of connecting humans to nature in the proposal would be

significant since being surrounded with nature is said to give healing and therapeutic

benefits. With this kind of approach towards a health and wellness tourism

development, people will thoroughly understand the importance of healthy travels.

Furthermore, looking at the development opportunity of wellness as a mode

of tourism for destinations, the researcher came up with the following findings:

1. Polillo is considered as the cradle of astonishing biodiversity and considered

one of the priority sites of the DOT. It is a place that is seemingly far away

from noise and congestion of urban cities which suits the type of the proposal.

2. The presence of beach resorts and other tourist spots in the municipality and

Polillo group of islands give reasons why tourists must visit the place.

3. The site is located in CALABARZON which is a strong tourism destination

and gives a big market for the project proposal.

4. There are 17, 787 recorded numbers of tourists who visited the Polillo in 2018

that is almost 25% of the arrivals in the island are tourists.

5. There are existing electrical and water utilities within the vicinity. However,

one of the goals of the development is to provide an innovative source of

power and water supply.

6. The site has agricultural land suitable for farming that will be beneficial in the

proposed concept of the development.

7. The current transportation within the island is not fully developed which can

be considered as one of the constraints of the proposal.

8. The development will create a new icon for a healthy destination within

Quezon Province.

9. The main difference of this proposed resort complex to other related projects

are the applications and influences of biophilic and ecological architecture

which is being neglected by business minded projects.

10. Systematic implementation of the work plan on the project will be critical dude

to the engineering breakthroughs on the constriction of the complex.

11. The scarcity of developments on the Polillo islands gives the project an

opportunity to cater services thus making a more profitable development.

The results of analysis and findings are expected to point out the conclusions

that are relevant to the study.

8.2 Conclusion

Based on the findings revealed in this study, the researcher conveyed the

following conclusions:

1. Wellness tourism is clearly being seen as a development opportunity in the

locality. With the relaxing ambiance of the selected site, this type of

development is possible. The establishment of a wellness resort in Polillo and

the increasing popularity of the islands will continue to draw numbers of

tourists in the future.

2. The hotel services of the project will have a great impact on accommodation

of within the group of islands due to the lack of development of such facilities.

3. The proper utilization of space must be addressed with respect to the natural

site. Good architectural programming and site analysis must be given priority.

4. Aerodynamic and aquadynamic design approach of the planning and

designing of every structure will reduce the damage and risks brought by

natural calamities and the integration of ecological disciplines will develop the

efficiency and effectiveness of the island development.

5. The transition to renewable energy can reinforce sustainable tourism and

improve the well-being of island communities by reducing air and water

pollution from fossil-fuel combustion and spillages, along with creating

employment opportunities.

6. Organic forms and the stability of alternative building material make a critical

planning on construction every components of the complex.

7. The discipline of building in glass, concrete, and steel can be apply to the

indigenous material making it more durable and strong. The development will

feature its own means of eco-friendly transport system which will be

part of its income return.

8. The problems of transportation availability must be taken into account; thus

the development must feature its own means of transport which will be part

of its income return.

9. The utilization of the agricultural land and the availability of sea food resource

that proposed development situated away from the mainland could cater its

own food sustenance facility. The integration of farming system in the

wellness division of the resort complex will give a holistic and more

sustainable approach.

10. Since the project title is “KUBLIHAN: An Architectural Response in

Optimizing Well-being and Ecology Verged in a Tourism Development”, the

proposed project will utilize the ideas of biophilia and eco-arhcitecture, for

these are the right architectural approaches towards healthful ecosystem

and wellbeing.

The proponent concluded that in order to come up to a design that fits the

users, analyzing the convenience of the proposed project should be considered.

Well planned and proper distribution facilities is the key in providing an appropriate

approach for the proposed wellness resort development.

8.3 Recommendations

After the evaluation, the researcher comes up with the following

recommendations for this study.

1. The tourist industry must continue to pursue other alternative destination

outside the urban areas to enhance the viability of rural areas in terms of

providing employment and diversifying the economy.

2. The use of indigenous material specifically bamboo, coconut, banana and

other indigenous material can provide grandeur and elegance in the

aesthetics and strength and functionality on the structural and planning.

3. This study will provide new ideas that may help in establishing a development

of the same type. Also this could be a great help for promoting the tourism

and hospitality that, we, Filipinos upholds.

4. For the architecture organizations, they may consider the result of this study

and may conduct more seminars or workshops about alternative building

materials and construction techniques to open the mind of their colleagues

and architecture students about the problems that architecture is facing

today.

5. For the Department of Architecture, they may encourage their students to

consider the effects of their project proposal to the environment and to find

out ways to minimize it. Encourage them to focus not only to the needs of the

people in a particular area but also consider the needs of the environment.

6. Associated profession such as engineering should also be involved in this

kind of development. Having some knowledge in the field of engineering and

architecture will result in a sustainable development.

7. For the future researchers, they can use this study as their guide for broad

understanding about the benefits of eco-sensitive design and construction to

the environment. Over and above, further research about this topic and

related to this study is highly recommended.

8. Over and above, further research about this topic and related to this study is
