We have reached the evening and at this very time unto Allah belongs all
sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be
worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all
sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I
ask You for the good of this night and the good of what follows it and I
take refuge in You from the evil of this nignt and the evil of what follows
it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I take
refuge in You from torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.

We rise upon the fitrah of Islaam, and the word of pure faith, and upon
the religion of our Prophet Muhammad and the religion of our forefather
Ibraheem, who was a Muslim and of true faith and was not of those who
associate others with Allaah

O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the evening and by Your leave we
have reached the morning, by Your leave we live and die and unto You is
our return
O Allah, I rose up in the morning with blessings, strength and
concealment (of my shortcomings), all of which are from You. So
complete all the blessings and strength from You and the concealment
for me in this life and the hereafter

O Allah, what blessing I or any of Your creation have risen upon, is from
You alone, without partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all thanks
==== O Allah, what blessing I or any of Your creation have risen upon, is
from You alone, without partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all
thanks

O my Lord, all praises be to You as it should be due to Your Might and the
Greatness of Your Power

I am pleased with Allah as a Lord, and Islam as a religion and Muhammad

peace be upon to him as a Prophet

O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this life and the next. O
Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly
affairs, and my family and my wealth. O Allah, veil my weaknesses and
set at ease my dismay, and preserve me from the front and from behind
and on my right and on my left and from above, and I take refuge with
You lest I be swallowed up by the earth.

How perfect Allah is and I praise Him by the number of His creation and
His pleasure, and by the weight of His throne, and the ink of His words

In the name of Allah with whose name nothing is harmed on earth nor in
the heavens and He is The All-Seeing, The All-Knowing

knowingly and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly

I take refuge in Allah’s perfect words from the evil He has created

O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and
the Earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has
the right to be worshipped except You. I take refuge in You from the evil

Benefit

Allah responds to the believer when he recites Surah Al-

Fatiah.
Abu Hurayrah (R.A) who said that the Messenger of Allah
(S.A.W) said “Allah, the Glorious and Exalted said, “I have
divided the prayer between myself and my servant
equally and my servant shall be granted what he asked
for”.
Allah responds to the believer when he recites Surah Al-
Fatiah.
[Sahih Muslim]

Ad-Darimi recorded that Ash-Sha`bi said that `Abdullah

bin Mas`ud (R.A) (R.A) said, "Whoever recites ten verses
from Surat Al-Baqarah in a night, then Shaytan will not
enter his house that night. (The Dua’s are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
and 8).
In another narration, Ibn Mas`ud (R.A) (R.A) said, "Then
Shaytan will not come near him or his family, nor will he
be touched by anything that he dislikes. Also, if these
verses were to be recited over a senile person, they would
wake him up.''

Narrated Abu Huraira (r.a) Allah 's Apostle ordered me to

guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody
came to me and started stealing of the foodstuff. I caught
him and said, "I will take you to Allah's Messenger (‫")ﷺ‬
Then Abu Huraira (r.a) described the whole narration and
said: That person said (to me), "Please don't take me to
Allah's Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬and I will tell you a few words by
which Allah will benefit you. When you go to your bed,
recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard
from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan
will not be able to come near you till dawn." When the
Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬heard the story he said to me, "He who came
to you at night, told you the truth although he is a liar;
and it was Satan."

Sahih al-Bukhari 5010

Whoever recites (Three Qul) three times in the evening
and in the morning will protect you against everything.
[Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, al-Da’waat, 3499, Sunan al-
Tirmidhi, no. 2829]

Whoever recites (Three Qul) three times in the evening

and in the morning will protect you against everything.
[Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, al-Da’waat, 3499, Sunan al-
Tirmidhi, no. 2829]

Whoever recites (Three Qul) three times in the evening

and in the morning will protect you against everything.
[Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, al-Da’waat, 3499, Sunan al-
Tirmidhi, no. 2829]

The Prophet (S.A.W) used to say this Dua in the evening.

[Tirmidhi 2699, al-Daw’aat, 3390; classed as Sahih by al-
Albani]

This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed

My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as
your religion”
[Al-Maa'idah 5:3]
So whatever was not part of the religion of Islam at that
point should never be part of the religion of Islam today.
The Sahabas (R.A) Taabi’een and Imams issued many
warnings against innovation (Bid'ah).
Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan (R.A) said, every act of worship
which the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (S.A.W)
did not do, do not do it.
Ibn Mas’ood (R.A) said, follow and do not innovate, for
the religion is complete. Adhere to the old way (i.e the
way of the Prophet (S.A.W) and the Sahabas (R.A).

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) taught his companions to

say (this Du'a) in the evening/morning.
[Tirmidhi, al-Da’waat, 3391, classed as Sahih by al-Albani,
no. 2700]
# BENEFIT NOT AVAILABLE #
REQUEST: Please send us the virtue/benefit of this Du'a
and InshAllah we will publish on next update.

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, “Whoever says this in the

morning has indeed offered his day’s thanks and whoever
says this in the evening has indeed offered his night’s
thanks”.
Allah says in the Qur’an, “Indeed if you are grateful and
give thanks, surely, definitely I will increase you; but if you
are ungrateful, then know that my punishment is indeed
most severe”
[Sura Ibrahim verse.7]

Abdullah bin Umar (R.A) narrated the Prophet (S.A.W)

talked about a servant of the Servants of God said (This
Du'a...) then two angels feel heavy and do not know how
to register (rewards) and they ascended to Allah and said
"O our Lord, We DO NOT know how record his reward
when he said this words “He replied, "What did he said?
“Angel second replied “he says Ya Rabbi....and Allah SWT
replied "write reward as what just spoken by him until he
meets me, I will reward him.
[Imam Ahmed, Ibn Majah]

Allah has promised that anyone recites (this Du’a) in the

morning and evening will be pleased on the day of
resurrection.
[Ahmed 4/337, An-Nasa'i from Hisnul Muslim]

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) never missed to reciting

this Du’a in the evening and in the morning.
[Abu Dawood, al-Adab, 5074]

The recitation of the words quoted in this Hadith is highly

meritorious and rewarding because they are full of Praise
and Glorification of Allah.
[Riyad-us-Saliheen – Hadith No 1433]

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said whoever recites this

Dua three times, nothing will harm him.
[At-Tirmidhi, al-Da’waat, 3388]
The Messenger (S.A.W) warned us against shirk, fearing
that his Ummah might fall into it, and said “The thing I
fear most for you is minor shirk.”
[Narrated by Ahmad, 23119]
Also he said: “Shirk among you is more subtle than the
sound of the footsteps of an ant on a rock. Shall I not tell
you of something which, if you do it, it will take that away
from you both minor and major forms of it” (Saying this
Du’a).
[Sahih al-Jaami 2876]

Narrated by Khawlah bint Hakeem Al-Sulamiyyah said I

heard Prophet (S.A.W) said, “Whoever make a stop on a
journey and say this Dua, nothing will harm him until he
moves on from that place”.
[Narrated by Muslim 2708]

The Prophet (S.A.W) taught one of his companions and he

said: “Say this in the morning and in the evening, and
when you go to your bed.”
[At-Tirmidhi, al-Da’waat, 3392]

Anas ibn Maalik (R.A) reports that Prophet (S.A.W) once

mentioned to Fatima (R.A) to recite the following
supplication morning and evening.
[Imaam Haakim and Imaam Dhahabiy]
Also Abdullah ibn Mas'ood (R.A) narrated that whenever
Prophet (S.A.W) used to be afflicted in any worry or
concern; he used to recite this supplication.
[Mustadrak al-Haakim vol.1 pg.509]

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, Whoever says this during the

day, believing in it with certainty, then dies on that day
before evening comes, will be one of the people of
Paradise, and whoever says it at night, believing in it with
certainty, then dies on that night before morning comes,
will be one of the people of Paradise.”
[Bukhari: 7/150, al-Da’waat, 6306]

Anas ibn Malik (R.A) the Prophet (S.A.W) said, “if anyone
says (this Du'a) in the morning or in the evening Allah
(SWT) will emancipate his fourth from hell, if anyone says
twice Allah will emancipate his half, if anyone says it
thrice, Allah will emancipate three-fourth and if he says
four times, Allah will emancipate him from hell”.
[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, Hadith 5051]
Whoever recites this in the evening has completed his
obligation for the night.
[Abu Dawud 4/318]

Whoever recites this Allah will grant whatever he/she

desire from this world or next.
[Abu Dawud 4/321]

Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A) Allah's Apostle said, "

Whoever says: "La ilaha illal-lah...., one hundred times will
get the same reward as given for manumitting ten slaves;
and one hundred good deeds will be written in his
accounts, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his
accounts, and it (his saying) will be a shield for him from
Satan on that day till night, and nobody will be able to do
a better deed except the one who does more than he”.
[Bhukari Volume 8, Book 75, Number 412]

Abu Hurayrah (R.A.) reported that the Messenger of Allah

(S.A.W) said, there are two words which are light on the
tongue, heavy on the Scale and beloved to The Most
Gracious.
Narrated Abu Hurayrah (R.A) Allah's Apostle said
"Whoever says, 'Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,' one
hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if
they were as much as the foam of the sea.

1. In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

2. [All] praise is [due] to Allah , Lord of the worlds.
3. The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
4. Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.
5. It is You we worship and You we ask for help.
6. Guide us to the straight path.
7. The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favour, not of those who
have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray

1. Alif, Lam, Meem.

2. This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those
conscious of Allah.
3. Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We
have provided for them.
4. And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and
what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith].
5. Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the
successful.

255. Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all]
existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in
the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him
except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be
after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He
wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires
Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
256. There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right
course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut
and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no
break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

257. Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from
darknesses into the light. And those who disbelieve - their allies are Taghut.
They take them out of the light into darknesses. Those are the companions of
the Fire; they will abide eternally therein.

284. To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth.
Whether you show what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you
to account for it. Then He will forgive whom He wills and punish whom He
wills, and Allah is over all things competent.

285. The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord,
and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels
and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between
any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your
forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.

286. Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will
have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the
consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame
upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden
like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not
with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and
have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the
disbelieving people.

3. And from the evil of darkness when it settles
4. And from the evil of the blowers in knots
5. And from the evil of an envier when he envies

1.Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind

2. The Sovereign of mankind
3. The God of mankind
4. From the evil of the retreating whisperer
5. Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind
6. From among the jinn and mankind

We have reached the morning and at this very time unto Allah belongs all
sovereignty, and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped
except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise
and He is over all things omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this
day and the good of what follows it and I take refuge in You from the evil of
this day and the evil of what follows it. My Lord, I take refuge in You from
laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You from torment in the Fire and
punishment in the grave

We rise upon the fitrah of Islaam, and the word of pure faith, and upon the
religion of our Prophet Muhammad and the religion of our forefather
Ibraheem, who was a Muslim and of true faith and was not of those who
associate others with Allaah

O Allah, by Your leave we have reached the morning and by Your leave we
have reached the evening by Your leave we live and die and unto You is our
return
O Allah, I rose up in the evening with blessings, strength and concealment (of
my shortcomings), all of which are from You. So complete all the blessings and
strength from You and the concealment for me in this life and the hereafter

O Allah, what blessing I or any of Your creation have risen upon, is from You
alone, without partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all thanks ==== O
Allah, what blessing I or any of Your creation have risen upon, is from You
alone, without partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all thanks.’

O Allah, I
ask You for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my
family and my wealth. O Allah, veil my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay,
and preserve me from the front and from behind and on my right and on my
left and from above, and I take refuge with You lest I be swallowed up by the
earth.

How perfect Allah is and I praise Him by the number of His creation and His
pleasure, and by the weight of His throne, and the ink of His words

In the name of Allah with whose name nothing is harmed on earth nor in the
heavens and He is The All-Seeing, The All-Knowing
O Allah, I take refuge in You lest I should commit shirk with You knowingly and
I seek Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly

I take refuge in Allah’s perfect words from the evil He has created

O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the
Earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has the right
to be worshipped except You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my soul and
from the evil and shirk of the devil, and from committing wrong against my
soul or bringing such upon another Muslim

O Ever Living,O Self-Subsisting & Supporter of all, by Your mercy I seek

assistance, rectify for me all of my affairs & do not leave me to myself, even for
the blink of an eye

O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You
created me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your covenant and promise as
best I can, I take refuge in You from the evil of which I have committed. I
acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for
verily none can forgive sin except You

O Allah, ily I have reached the evening and call on You, the bearers of Your
throne, Your angels, and all of Your creation to witness that You are Allah, ne
has the right to be worshipped except You, alone, without partner and that
Muhammad is Your Servant and Messenger
O Allah, grant my body health, O Allah, grant my hearing health, O Allah, grant
my sight health. None has the right to be worshipped except You , O Allah, I
take refuge with You from disbelief and poverty, & I take refuge with You from
the punishment of the grave. None has the right to be worshipped except You

Allah is Sufficient for me, none has the right to be worshipped except Him,
upon Him I rely and He is Lord of the exalted throne

We have reached the morning and at this very time all sovereignty belongs to
Allah, Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day, its
triumphs and its victories, its light & its blessings and its guidance, and I take
refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil that follows it.

None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to
Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He is over all things omnipotent.

Also, if these
verses were to be recited over a senile person, they
would wake him up.''

When you go to your bed,
recite Ayat-al-Kursi, (2.255) for then there will be a guard
from Allah who will protect you all night long, and Satan
will not be able to come near you till dawn." When the
Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬heard the story he said to me, "He who
came to you at night, told you the truth although he is a
liar; and it was Satan."

Sahih al-Bukhari 5010

Whoever recites (Three Qul) three times in the evening

and in the morning will protect you against everything.
[Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, al-Da’waat, 3499, Sunan al-
Tirmidhi, no. 2829]

The Prophet (S.A.W) used to say this Dua in the morning.

[Tirmidhi 2699, al-Daw’aat, 3390; classed as Sahih by al-
Albani]

This day, I have perfected your religion for you,

completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you
Islam as your religion”
[Al-Maa'idah 5:3]
So whatever was not part of the religion of Islam at that
point should never be part of the religion of Islam today.
The Sahabas (R.A) Taabi’een and Imams issued many
warnings against innovation (Bid'ah).
Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan (R.A) said, every act of worship
which the companions of the Messenger of Allaah
(S.A.W) did not do, do not do it.

Anas ibn Malik (R.A) the Prophet (S.A.W) said, “if anyone
says (this Du'a) in the morning or in the evening Allah
(SWT) will emancipate his fourth from hell, if anyone says
twice Allah will emancipate his half, if anyone says it
thrice, Allah will emancipate three-fourth and if he says
four times, Allah will emancipate him from hell”.
[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, Hadith 5051]
Whoever recites this in the morning has completed his
obligation for the night.

( a status) and grant him superiority and let him reach
Mooqame Mahmood which You have promised, for definitely
You do not go back on Your promises

"O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and
those absent, our young and our old, our males and our
females. O Allah, whom amongst us You keep alive, then let
such a life be upon Islam, and whom amongst us You take unto
Yourself, then let such a death be upon faith. O Allah, do not
deprive us of his reward and do not let us stray after him"

How perfect Allah is and I praise Him. How perfect Allah is, The
Supreme.
O Allah You are The One Who pardons greatly, and loves to
pardon, so pardon me

There is no might nor power except with Allah

Glory be to Allah, All Praise is for Allah, There is No God but

Allah, Allah is the Greatest

Non has the right to be worshipped except you. How perfect

you are, verily I was among the wrong-doers

Allah is sufficient for us, and how fine a trustee (He is)

O Allah, save me from the fire

O Allah we seek refuge in You from associating anything with
You knowingly, and we seek Your forgiveness for what we do
unknowingly

I seek protection for you in the Perfect Words of Allah from

every devil and every beast , and from every envious
blameworthy eye

Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents, and (all) the believers on

the Day when the reckoning will be established (Also recite) My
Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I
was young

The thirst has quenched and left wetness and with the will of
Allah, reward is proven (certain)

Do not worry, it will be a purification (for you) Allah willing

I ask Almighty Allah , Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to make

you well. (Recite seven times in Arabic)

O Lord of the people, remove this pain and cure it, You are the
one who cures and there is no one besides You who can cure,
grant such a cure that no illness remains
Peace be upon you, people of this abode, from among the
believers and those who are Muslims , and we , by the Will of
Allah, shall be joining you. I ask Allah to grant us and you
strength

O Allah! There is nothing easy except what You make easy, and
You make the difficult easy if it be Your Will.

O Allah! Behold I ask You the good through Your Knowledge,

and ability through Your Power, and beg (Your favour) out of
Your infinite Bounty. For surely You have Power; I have none.
You know all; I know not. You are the Great Knower of all things.
O Allah! If in Your Knowledge this matter
* Then the matter should be mentioned by name *
be good for my faith (Deen), for my livelihood, and for the
consequences of my affairs, then ordain it for me, and make it
easy for me, and bless me therein. But if in Your Knowledge,
this matter be bad for my faith (Deen), for my livelihood, and
for the consequences of my affairs, then turn it away from me,
and turn me away therefrom, and ordain for me the good
wherever it be, and cause me to please with it.

Aisha (R.A) reported, Messenger of Allah
(S.A.W) said, “When any of you wants to eat,
he should mention the Name of Allah in the
beginning, (i.e., say Bismillah) If he forgets to
do it in the beginning, he should say (this Du'a)

[Hisnul Hasin from Haam]

The messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said, “When

any one of you enters his home and mentions
the Name of Allah, when he enters and when
he eats, the Shaytan says, 'You have no place
to stay and nothing to eat here.'
If he enters and does not mention the name of
Allah when he enters, [the Shaytan] says, 'You
have a place to stay.' If he does not mention
the name of Allah when he eats, [the Shaytan
says], 'You have a place to stay and something
to eat.'
[Ahmad]

Prophet (S.A.W) also said, “If a man goes out of

his house and says (This Du’a) it will be said to
him, 'this will take care of you, you are guided,
you have what you need and you are
protected.' The Shaytan will stay away from
him, and another Shaytan will say to him,
'what can you do with a man who is guided,
provided for and protected’.
[Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi]

The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said, three

supplications will not be rejected (by Allah

Narrated Abu Hurairah (R.A) The Prophet said,

"Allah loves sneezing but dislikes yawning, so if
anyone of you sneezes and then praises Allah,
every Muslim who hears him (praising Allah)
has to say Tashmit to him. But as regards
yawning, it is from Satan, so if one of you
yawns, he should try his best to stop it, for
when anyone of you yawns, Satan laughs at
him."
[Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 245]

Narrated Abu Hurairah (R.A) The Prophet

said....... it is obligatory on every Muslim who
heard him, to say this Du’a.....
[Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 242]

See Du'a 17 and 18

Abu Hurairah (R.A) reported that the

Messenger (S.A.W) said, the parts of land
dearest to Allah are its mosques, and the parts
most hateful to Allah are markets.
[Muslim, Book 4, Number 1416]

Ibn Abbas (R.A) the Messenger (S.A.W) said, "If

anyone of you, when having sexual intercourse
with his wife, says (This Du'a) and if it is
destined that they should have a child, then
Satan will never be able to harm him."
[Bukhari - Volume 7, Book 62, Number 94]
It was narrated that Jabir (R.A) said: Allah’s
Messenger (S.A.W) said, “Whoever says, when
he hears the call to prayer (i.e. Adhan) will be
granted my intercession on the Day of
Resurrection.”
[Hadith No. 681, Book of Adhan, Sunan An-
Nasa’i, Vol. 1]

Abu Hurairah (R.A) says that he heard the

Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said, " He who
goes out with the bier when taken out from its
residence and offers prayer for it and he then
follows it till it is buried, he would have two
Qirats of reward, each Qirats being equivalent
to Uhud, and he who after having offered
prayer (directly) came back would have his
reward (as great) as Uhud.
[Muslim]

Whoever says (this Du’a) a hundred times

during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if
they are like the foam of the sea. Also A palm
tree is planted for the reciter of this Du’a in
Paradise.
[Bukhari 7:168, Muslim 4:2071]
Abu Dharr reported that the Prophet (S.W.T)
said, “Shall I tell you the words that Allah loves
the most?” I said: “Yes, tell me, O Messenger
of Allah.” He said, “The words dearest to Allah
are, subhanAllah wa bihamdihi.
[At-Tirmidhi; 5:511, al-Hakim]
Abu Hurairah (R.A) reported that the
Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said, “Two words
(subhanAllah wa bihamdihi) are light on the
tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, and are
loved by the Most Merciful One.”
Aisha (R.A) reported I asked, "O Messenger of
Allah! If I realize Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of
Decree), what should I supplicate in it?" He
(S.A.W) replied, "You should supplicate”
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun, tuhibbul-'afwa,
fa'fu 'anni" .
[At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah with a Sahih Isnad]

This Du’a is a treasure from the treasures of

Paradise.
[Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Fath al-Bari 11:213, Sahih
Muslim 4:2076]

This Dua... are mentioned as the four most

beloved words to Allah.
It does not matter with which one of them is
begun.
[Sahih Muslim 3:1685]

The Messenger (S.A.W) said, "Any Muslim who

recites this Du’a, his request will be granted by
Allah."
[At-Tirmidhi 3505]

This Du’a is for ….

Leaving your affairs to Allah SWT by depending
upon Him, by trusting in His promise, by being
pleased with His decree, by thinking favourably
of Him, and by waiting patiently for His help.

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, "Says (this Du'a) 7

times after Fajr before speaking to anyone and
7 times after Magrib. Then if you die on that
day or night after reciting this Du'a Allah (SWT)
will grant you protection from the hell Fire”.
[Al-Imam Ahmad in Al-Musnad, 17362, and by
Abu Dawood, 507]
Narrated by Anas (R.A) the Prophet (S.A.W)
said:, “Whoever asks Allah for Paradise three
times, Paradise will say, ‘O Allah, admit him to
Paradise.’ Whoever seeks protection from the
Fire three times, Hell will say, ‘O Allah, protect
him from the Fire.’”
[At-Tirmidhi, 2572; Ibn Majah, 4340]
Note: It is Mustahab for the believer to ask
Allah for Paradise and to seek protection from
Hell fire without any particular prayer, or at any
particular time.
The Messenger (S.A.W) warned us against
shirk, fearing that his Ummah might fall into it,
and said, “The thing I fear most for you is
minor shirk.”
[Narrated by Ahmad, 23119]
Also he said, “Shirk among you is more subtle
than the sound of the footsteps of an ant on a
rock. Shall I not tell you of something which, if
you do it, it will take that away from you both
minor and major forms of it (Say this Du’a)
[Saheeh al-Jaami 2876]

Ibn Abbas (R.A) related that the Messenger of

Allah (S.A.W) used to seek Allah’s protection
for Al-Hasan and Al-Husain.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (R.A) that the

Prophet (S.A.W) said, “A man may be raised in
status in Paradise and will say where this came
from? And it will be said, from your son’s
praying for forgiveness for you.”
[Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 3660]

There is NO authentic intention for fast

however you should have the intention in your
heart.

Abu Hurairah (R.A) reported, The Messenger of

Allah (S.A.W) said, "Every Muslim has five
rights over another Muslim
1. To return the greetings
2. To visit the sick
3. To accompany funeral processions
4. To accept an invitation
5. To respond to the sneeze.
[Bukhari and Muslim]

Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) said, “That by

reciting (this Du’a) seven times, the ill person
will regain his health and if death occurs then
that (death) is a different issue (i.e. death is
written it cannot be prevented).

Narrated from Aisha (R.A) that when any of us

fell sick, the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) would
wipe him with his right hand then say (this
Du’a)
[Bukhari 5675, Muslim 2191]
The purpose of visiting is to remembering
death and the dead and remembering that our
destiny will be either Paradise or Hell. The
dead also benefits and is treated kindly by the
visitor greeting him with salaams, making Du’a
for him, praying for forgiveness.
Note: It is permissible to raise the hands when
reciting this Du’a, because of the hadith of
‘Aisha (R.A)."

Remembering Allah SWT as Dhikr dispels

anxiety and tension. If something is too
difficult for you, then pray to Allah to make it
easy for you.
Whenever Ibn Taymiyah (R.A) found something
too difficult to understand, he would say, “O
You Who taught Ibraaheem, teach me; O You
Who caused Sulaymaan to understand, cause
me to understand.”

The Messenger of Allaah (S.A.W) used to teach his companions

to make istikhaarah in all things, just as he used to teach them
soorahs from the Qur’aan. He said: ‘If any one of you is
concerned about a decision he has to make, then let him pray
two rak’ahs of non-obligatory prayer, then say the above.

(Al-Bukhaari, 6841; similar reports are also recorded by al-

Tirmidhi, al-Nisaa’i, Abu Dawood, Ibn Maajah and Ahmad)

When to pray:
‘Let him pray two rak’ahs of non-obligatory prayer.’ This is
mentioned to make it clear that it does not mean fajr prayer, for
example. Al-Nawawi said in al-Adhkaar: He can pray istikaarah
after two rak’ahs of regular sunnah prayer done at zuhr for
example, or after two rak’ahs of any naafil prayers whether they
are regularly performed or not.

Wisdom:
The wisdom behind putting the salaat before the du’aa’ is that
istikhaarah is intended to combine the goodness of this world
with the goodness of the next. A person needs to knock at the
door of the King (Allaah), and there is nothing more effective for
this than prayer, because it contains glorification and praise of
Allaah, and expresses one's need for Him at all times.

Answers:
The secret is that one’s heart should not be attached to the
matter in question, because that will result in a person becoming
restless. Being pleased with something means that one’s heart is
content with the decree of Allaah.

Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us: For Thou art the All-Hearing, the
All-knowing

Our Lord! Make of us Muslims, bowing to Thy (Will), and of our progeny
a people Muslim, bowing to Thy (will); and show us our place for the
celebration of (due) rites; and turn unto us (in Mercy); for Thou art the
Oft-Returning, Most Merciful

Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save
us from the chastisement of the fire

Our Lord! Bestow on us endurance, make our foothold sure, and give us
help against the disbelieving folk

Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error

Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden Like that which Thou didst lay on those
before us

Our Lord! Lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear.
Blot out our sins, and grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art
our Protector; Help us against those who stand against faith

Our Lord! (they say), Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast
guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the
Grantor of bounties without measure

Our Lord! Thou art He that will gather mankind Together against a day
about which there is no doubt; for Allah never fails in His promise.

Our Lord! We have indeed believed: forgive us, then, our sins, and save
us from the agony of the Fire

Our Lord! We believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the
Messenger. Then write us down among those who bear witness

Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that
transgressed our duty: Establish our feet firmly, and help us against those
that resist Faith

Our Lord! Not for naught Hast Thou created (all) this! Glory to Thee! Give
us salvation from the penalty of the Fire

Our Lord! Any whom Thou dost admit to the Fire, Truly Thou coverest
with shame, and never will wrong-doers Find any helpers!

Our Lord! We have heard the call of one calling (Us) to Faith, 'Believe ye
in the Lord,' and we have believed.

Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, blot out from us our iniquities, and take to
Thyself our souls in the company of the righteous
Our Lord! Grant us what Thou didst promise unto us through Thine
apostles, and save us from shame on the Day of Judgment: For Thou
never breakest Thy promise

Our Lord! We believe; write us down among the witnesses.

O Allah our Lord! Send us from heaven a table set (with viands), that
there may be for us - for the first and the last of us - a solemn festival
and a sign from thee; and provide for our sustenance, for thou art the
best Sustainer (of our needs)

Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and
bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost.

Our Lord! Send us not to the company of the wrong-doers

Our Lord! Decide Thou between us and our people in truth, for Thou art
the best to decide.

Our Lord! Pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls
unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)!

Our Lord! Make us not a trial for those who practise oppression; And
deliver us by Thy Mercy from those who reject (Thee)

O our Lord! Truly Thou dost know what we conceal and what we reveal:
for nothing whatever is hidden from Allah, whether on earth or in
heaven

O our Lord! And accept my Prayer.

O our Lord! Cover (us) with Thy Forgiveness - me, my parents, and (all)
Believers, on the Day that the Reckoning will be established!

Our Lord! Bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for
us in the right way!

Our Lord! We fear lest he hasten with insolence against us, or lest he
transgress all bounds

Our Lord! We believe; then do Thou forgive us, and have mercy upon us:
For Thou art the Best of those who show mercy

Our Lord! Avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an
affliction grievous,- Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in.

O my Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of
our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous

Our Lord is indeed Oft-Forgiving Ready to appreciate (service)

Our Lord! Thy Reach is over all things, in Mercy and Knowledge. Forgive,
then, those who turn in Repentance, and follow Thy Path; and preserve
them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire!
And grant, our Lord! that they enter the Gardens of Eternity, which Thou
hast promised to them, and to the righteous among their fathers, their
wives, and their posterity! For Thou art (He), the Exalted in Might, Full of
Wisdom. And preserve them from (all) ills; and any whom Thou dost
preserve from ills that Day,- on them wilt Thou have bestowed Mercy
indeed: and that will be truly (for them) the highest Achievement.

Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the
Faith, and leave not, in our hearts, rancour (or sense of injury) against
those who have believed.

Our Lord! Thou art indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful.

Our Lord! In Thee do we trust, and to Thee do we turn in repentance: to

Thee is (our) Final Goal

Our Lord! Make us not a (test and) trial for the Unbelievers, but forgive
us, our Lord! for Thou art the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Our Lord! Perfect our Light for us, and grant us Forgiveness: for Thou
hast power over all things.

Hajj & Umrah Text ↓
Common mistakes
nn Common mistakes done during Hajj and Umrah nn

Asma Bint Shameem, the noble Companion, Hudhayfah Bin Yaman said, “People used to ask the
Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) about good things, but I used to ask him
about bad things because I was afraid that they might overtake me.”

List of some of the extremely common mistakes that scores of people make, year after year, so
that we can be weary of them and protect and prevent ourselves from making them. This way
Insha Allah our Hajj will be closer to the Sunnah and more acceptable to Allah.

Mistake 1: Thinking that Du’a is accepted at first glance of the Ka’bah

Many people have the wrong notion that the first time they look at the Ka’bah, any Du’a that
they make will be answered. Not true! This has no evidence from the Shariah. And any Hadith
that one may find regarding this matter is either extremely weak or fabricated. When asked
about Du’a being accepted at the first sight of the Ka’bah, Sheikh Sa’d Al-Humayd replied:

“This is not true; there has to be evidence for this to be true, because acts of worship should only
be based on evidence. And that evidence must be Sahih in and of itself and it should be clear and
unambiguous. And Allah knows best.”

Mistake 2: ‘Kissing’ the Black Stone from far away and stopping during Tawaf to do so

Kissing the Black Stone is a beautiful Sunnah and an honour indeed for the one who is able to do
so. However, due to the immense crowd, majority of the people cannot reach it. So many people
try to “kiss” it from far away. When they are in line with the Black Stone, they stop in their tracks
during Tawaf, face the Black Stone, put up both hands on the side of their head and ‘kiss’ the
Black Stone in air, as if the Black Stone were right in front of them. Or they throw ‘flying kisses’ at
the Black Stone. Besides being a wrong practice, stopping the flow of Tawaf causes disruption
and unnecessary crowding in that area, thereby creating a lot of inconvenience to fellow pilgrims.

‘Distance kissing’ is not from the Sunnah of course. All the Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah
be upon him) did while doing Tawaf was kiss the Black Stone if he easily could do so, or touch it
with his hand and kiss his hand. But, when it was crowded, he only pointed to it from far away
and said, “Allāhu Akbar.” That’s it.

It was narrated that Abu Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I saw the Messenger of
Allah (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) perform Tawaf around the House, touching the
corner (where the Black Stone is) with a crooked staff which he had with him, then kissing the
staff.”
[Sahih Muslim]
Ibn Abbas said, “The Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) performed
Tawaf on his camel, and every time he came to the corner (where the Black Stone is) he would
point to it and say Allāhu Akbar.”
[Al-Bukhari, no. 4987]
That’s all we need to do. If we are far away from the Black Stone, we should point to it with our
right hand, say Allāhu Akbar and move on. No facing the Ka’bah, no ‘distance kissing’, no stopping
dead in your tracks. Keep moving and don’t disrupt the flow of the Tawaf.

Sheikh Bin Baz said, “It should be noted that the Tawaf remains perfectly valid without kissing the
Black Stone. If one does not or cannot kiss the Black Stone. it is sufficient simply to point to it,
saying ‘Allāhu Akbar’ when one comes parallel to it, although one may be at a distance from it.”

[Fatawa Bin Baz]

Mistake 3: Shouting out Du’a in unison

Some people shout at the top of their voices, in unison, while making Du’a during Tawaf. They
follow an Imam or a leader who says out different Du’as aloud, and then the followers all repeat
after him in unison. This causes a lot of confusion and disturbs others engaged in their own
Du’as, making them lose focus and Khushoo’. And obviously, it is also not befitting that one
should shout and raise his voice in a place as sacred as the Haram.

The right thing to do is to know, before you go for Tawaf, the Du’as that you want to make, the
Qur’an you want to recite, etc. This way you won’t have to follow anybody and you will be making
your own Du’a, in your own language, from your own heart. It will give you better concentration
and satisfaction. Plan your Du’as ahead of time; repeat them to yourself, with humility and
Khushoo’. After all, you’re making Du’a to the One Who hears all and sees all. The Prophet (Peace
and blessing of Allah be upon him) said, “Each one of you is conversing with his Lord, so do not
disturb one another or raise your voices over one another when reading (or he said) when
praying.”

[Abu Dawood, Sahih by Al-Albani]

Mistake 4: Designating specific Du’as for specific rounds

Some people designate specific Du’as for each round and there are even books that have specific
Du’as written for every round. This is not something from the Shariah. The Prophet (Peace and
blessing of Allah be upon him) did not recite any specific Du’a in any of the rounds, and neither
did his companions. If there was such a thing, then he would have told us about it, and he would
have done so himself first.

The only Du’a that he did specify during Tawaf was when he reached at the end of each circuit
between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone. He would say,

“Rabbana atina’ fid-dunya hasana wa fil-akhirati hasana wa qina adhaban-nar”

“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the punishment
of the Fire.”
Mistake 5: Doing Tawaf on someone else’s behalf

Many people make this mistake. They circumambulate the Ka’bah seven times and then they
donate the reward of this Tawaf to their loved ones, their family members or their relatives who
have passed away. Also, when people go for Hajj or Umrah, their relatives and friends specifically
ask them to “do one Tawaf on their behalf”. This is not valid and there is no evidence for its
permissibility.
Only Hajj and Umrah can be done on others’ behalf, but Tawaf individually cannot be done for
someone else.

Sheikh Bin Baz said, “Tawaf around the Ka’bah cannot be done by proxy, so no one can do Tawaf
on behalf of someone else, unless he is doing Hajj or Umrah on his behalf, in which case he may
do it on his behalf along with the rest of Hajj or Umrah.”

[Fatawa Bin Baz]

Mistake 6: Multiple Umrah’s

Some people perform multiple Umrah’s after finishing their own, going outside Makkah either to
Masjid Ayesha (Tan’eem) or other Meeqat points to put on a new Ihram and perform more
Umrah's again and again. Some people do one Umrah every day, some even more! This is not
from the Sunnah and not from the practice of the Sahabah.

If it was good to do multiple Umrah’s all in one trip, surely the Prophet (Peace and blessing of
Allah be upon him) would have done so himself and the Sahabah would have done so too. But
we see that although the Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) stayed in Makkah
for 19 days after the Conquest, yet he did not leave Makkah to do Umrah, even though he could
have easily done so.

Sheikh Bin Uthaymeen said, “Ibn Taymiyah mentions that the Salaf are agreed that making
multiple Umrahs is discouraged. In any case, leaving Makkah and going to the boundary of the
sacred precincts to make a second or third Umrah is an unfounded practice that was unknown
during the time of the Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him). The only exception to
this was the case where Ayesha sought permission to make a single Umrah after Hajj because of
special circumstances. If it was generally recommended to leave Makkah to perform Umrah in
this way, the Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) would have encouraged his
companions to do so.”

Actually, instead of making multiple Umrah’s, it would be better to perform as many Tawaf as you
can for yourself. Tawaf is an act of worship that cannot be done anywhere else except Makkah
and this is a golden opportunity.

Ibn Taymiyah said, “The Salaf agree that performing voluntary Tawaf is superior to going to Al-
Tan`eem or to the boundaries of the sacred precincts and making Umrah.”

[Majmu Al-Fatawa]
Mistake 7: Thinking that the Jamarat are devils

When some people go to stone the Jamarat, they think they are going to stone the devils. In fact,
they think they are stoning Iblees himself! They even call this ritual, “Stoning the Shaitan.” That is
not true. The Jamarat are not devils. All we do when we stone these Jamarat is an act of
remembering Allah, following the Messenger of Allah (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)
as an act of worship. That’s it. No need to get emotional, no need to cuss at the Jamarat, no need
to push and shove.

Mistake 8: Touching or wiping over the Ka’bah

Some people touch the Ka’bah or Maqam Ibrahim thinking there is blessing in it. They also touch
and wipe their hands on the pillars of the Grand Mosque or the Prophet’s Mosque and then they
wipe the hands over themselves believing this is something good. This is another act with no
basis in the Shariah of Islam. The Prophet (Peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) did not do
any of this. If it was good, he would have done so. But he didn’t, so we won’t either.

Blessings come from following what Allah and His Messenger (Peace and blessing of Allah be
upon him) have prescribed, and not from introducing innovations.

Mistake 9: Thinking that praying 40 prayers in Madina is compulsory

Some people think it’s necessary to complete 40 prayers in the Prophet’s Mosque and that this is
necessary and part of Hajj. It’s not. This is based on a weak Hadith. Neither is it necessary to
complete 40 prayers there nor is visiting Madina a part of Hajj. Obviously it is good if you can
spend as much time as you can in Madina and pray as much as you can in the Prophet’s Mosque,
but to think that one has to complete 40 prayers there is not correct.

Sheikh Bin Baz said, “The widespread idea that the visitor should stay for eight days so that he
can offer 40 prayers in the mosque is wrong. Although it says in some Ahadith that “whoever
offers 40 prayers therein Allah will decree that he is safe from the Fire and free from hypocrisy,” it
must be known that this Hadith is Da’eef (weak) according to the scholars and cannot be taken as
proof or relied upon. There is no set limit for visiting the Prophet’s Mosque. If a person visits for
an hour or two, or a day or two, or for more than that, there is nothing wrong with that.”

[Fatawa Bin Baz]
