1:1 Bismillaahir rahmaa-nir raheem.
1:2 Alhamdu lillaahi rabbil aa’lameen.

1:3 Ar-rahmaa-nir-raheem.
1:4 Maaliki yawmid-deen.
1:5 Iyyaaka na’budu wa lyyaaka nasta’een.
1:6 Ihdinas siraa’tal mustaqeem.
1:7 Siraatal-lazeena an’amta ‘alaihim ghayril maghdoo bi’alai’him wa lad-daalleen.
TRANSLATION
1:1 In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
1:2 [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

1:3 The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
1:4 Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.
1:5 It is You we worship and You we ask for help.
1:6 Guide us to the straight path.
1:7 The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favour, not of those who have
evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
Translation: Sahih International
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Abu Huraira r.a reported, The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:
Allah said: “I have divided prayer between myself and my servant into two halves, and
my servant shall have what he has asked for”.
When the servant says: “All praise is due to Allah the Lord of the worlds”
Allah says: “My servant has praised me”.
When he says: “The Gracious, the Merciful”

Allah says: “My servant has exalted me”.
When he says: “The Master of the Day of Judgment”

Allah says: “My servant has glorified me and my servant has submitted to me”.
When he says: “You alone we worship, you alone we ask for help”
Allah says: “This is between me and my servant, and my servant will have what he has
asked for”.
When he says: “Guide us to the straight path, the path of those whom you have
favoured, not those who went astray”
Allah says: “This is for my servant, and my servant will have what he has asked for”.
Dua 2
RECITE ONCE
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
2:1 Alif Laam Meem.

2:2 Zaalikal kitaabu-laa raiba : feeh : hudal-lil muttaqeen.
2:3 Allazeena yu’minoona bilghaibi wa yu’qee-moonas salata wa mim’maa razaqna’hum
yun’fiqoon.
2:4 Wal’lazena yu’minoona bimaa un’zila ilaika wa-maa unzila min qablika wa bil aa’khirati
hum yu’qinoon.
2:5 Ulaa’ika aa’laa hudam-mir rabbihim; wa ulaa’ika humul muflihoon.
TRANSLATION
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
2:1 Alif-Lam-Mim.[These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’an and none but Allah
(Alone) knows their meanings].
2:2 This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of
Allah.
2:3 Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have
provided for them.
2:4 And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was
revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith].
2:5 Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the
successful.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Ash-Sha`bi r.a said that Abdullah Ibn Mas`ud r.a said:

“Whoever recites the 10 verses from Surat Al-Baqarah in a night, and then Shaytan will
not enter his house that night”.
In another narration Ibn Mas`ud r.a said:

“The Shaytan will not come near him or to his family, nor will he be touched by anything
that he dislikes. Also, if these verses were to be recited over a senile person, they would
wake him up”.

TRANSLITERATION
255: Allahu laa ilaaha illaa’hu wal haiyul qai-yoom;

Laa taa’khuzuhoo sinatu’oo walaa na’woom;
Lahoo maa fis’samaawaati wa-maa fil ard;
Man zal’lazee yashfa’oo in’dahoo illa be iznih;
Ya’lamu maa baina ai’deehim wa’maa khal-fahum;
Wa’laa yuhee’toona bee’shai-im’min il’mihee illa be-maa shaa;
Wasi’aa kursi’yuhus samaa-waati wal arda;
Wa’laa yaoo’duhoo hif’zuhumaa wa huwal ali’yyul azeem.
TRANSLATION
2:255 Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all]
existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in
the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except
by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after
them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His
Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And
He is the Most High, the Most Great.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Narrated by Abu Huraira r.a:

Allah ‘s Apostle ‫ ﷺ‬ordered me to guard the Zakat revenue of Ramadan. Then somebody
came to me and started stealing of the foodstuff.
I caught him and said:
“I will take you to Allah’s Messenger ‫”ﷺ‬.
Then Abu Huraira r.a described the whole narration and said, that person said to me:
“Please don’t take me to Allah’s Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬and I will tell you a few words by which
Allah will benefit you”.
He said:
“When you go to your bed, recite Ayatul Kursi (2:255) for then there will be a guard from
Allah who will protect you all night long, and Shaytan will not be able to come near you
till dawn”.
When the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬heard the story he said to me:
“He who came to you at night, told you the truth although he is a liar and it was
Shaytan”.

It was narrated that Abu Umaamah r.a said:
The Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬said:
“Whoever recites Aaytul Kursi immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be
nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death.”

fisaama lahaa;
Wallaahu samee’un aleem.
TRANSLATION
2:256 There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has
become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah
has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and
Knowing.

Wal’lazee na-kafaroo awliyaa uo’humut taa’ghootu yukh’rijoo-nahum minan noori ilaz-
zulumaat;
Ulaa’ika as’haabun naari hum fee’haa khaa’lidoon.
TRANSLATION
2:257 Allah is the ally of those who believe. He brings them out from darknesses into the
light. And those who disbelieve – their allies are Taghut. They take them out of the light
into darknesses. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein.

Fayagh’firuli maiya-shaa’u wa yu’azzibu maiya-shaa;
Wallaahu aa’laa kulli shai in qadeer.
TRANSLATION
2:284 To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Whether
you show what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it.
Then He will forgive whom He wills and punish whom He wills, and Allah is over all
things competent.

2:285 Aa’manar-rasoolu bimaa un’zila ilaihi mir-Rabbihee walmu’minoon;

Kul’lun aa’mana billaahi wa malaa’ikathihee wa kutubhihee wa rusulihee,
Laa nufar’riqu baina ahadim-mir-rusulih;
Wa qaaloo sami’naa wa aata’naa;
Ghufra-naka rabbana wa ilaikal maser.
TRANSLATION
2:285 The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so
have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and
His messengers, [saying], We make no distinction between any of His messengers. And
they say, We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the
[final] destination.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Abu Masud Al-Ansaari r.a narrated:

“Whoever recites the last two verses of Al Baqarah (v285 and v286) at night, it will
suffice him”.

2:286 Laa yukalliful-laahu nafsan illaa wus’ahaa;

Lahaa maa kasabat wa aa’laihaa mak-tasabat;
Rabbana laa tu’aakhiznaa in’naa-seenaa aw-akhtaa’naa;
Rabbana wa laa tahmil-alainaa isran kamaa hamaltahoo alal-lazeena min qablinaa;
Rabbana wa laa tuham-milnaa maa laa taa’qata lanaa bih;
Wa’fu annaa waghfir lanaa war’hamnaa;
Anta mawlana fansur-naa alal qawmil kaafireen.
TRANSLATION
2:286 Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the
consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what
[evil] it has earned. Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or
erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before
us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon
us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory
over the disbelieving people.

Abu Masud Al-Ansaari r.a narrated:

“Whoever recites the last two verses of Al Baqarah (v285 and v286) at night, it will
suffice him”.

112:4 Wa lam’ya kul-lahu kufu’wan ahad.
TRANSLATION
112:1 Say, He is Allah, [who is] One.

112:2 Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
112:3 He neither begets nor is born.
112:4 Nor is there to Him any equivalent.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Abdullah bin Khubaib r.a reported, The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:

“Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas, three times at dawn and dusk.
It will suffice you in all respects.”

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬was known to recite these chapters of the Quran every night before he
went to sleep. He would cup his hands, recite the chapters into them, and then pass his
hands all over his body.
He ‫ ﷺ‬was also known to recite these verses anytime he was ill. Such that when he was
so ill that he couldn’t recite them by himself, his wife, Aisha r.a reported that she used to
recite them and rub them all over his body.

Yuh-ee wa yu’meeto wa’huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer;
Rabbi ass-aaluka khay’ra mafee haa-zee’hil lai’lah;
Wa-khayra ma ba’daha;
Wa- aa’ozu-bika min sharri ma fee haa-zee’hil lai’lah;
Wa sharri ma ba’daha;
Rabbi aa’ozu-bika minal-kasali, wa-soo-il kibar;
Rabbi aa’ozubika min aa’zaa-bin fin’nari wa aa’zaa-bin fil’qabr.
TRANSLATION
We have reached the evening and at this very time unto Allah belongs all sovereignty,
and all praise is for Allah. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone,
without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things
omnipotent. My Lord, I ask You for the good of this night and the good of what follows it
and I take refuge in You from the evil of this night and the evil of what follows it. My
Lord, I take refuge in You from laziness and senility. My Lord, I take refuge in You from
torment in the Fire and punishment in the grave.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Abdullah bin Mas’ud r.a reported:

“When it was evening and morning the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬used to supplicate this Dua”.

Aamsaina ala fitratil-islam;

Wa’ala kalimatil-ikhlas;
Wa’ala deeni nabi’yyina Muhammadin sallalla-hu alai’hi wasallam;
Wa’ala millati abeena Ibrahima hanee’faan muslimah;
Waama kana minal-mushrikeen.
TRANSLATION
We have reached the evening upon the fitrah of Al-Islam, and the word of pure faith,
and upon the religion of our Prophet Muhammad and the religion of our forefather
Ibrahim, who was a Muslim and of true faith and was not of those who associate others
with Allah.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed my favour upon you and
have approved for you Islam as religion.
Al-Maa’idah 5:3
So whatever was not part of the religion of Islam at that point should never be part of
the religion of Islam today.
The Sahabas r.a Taabi’een and Imams issued many warnings against innovation (Bid’ah).
Hudhayfah Ibn Al-Yamaan r.a said:

“Every act of worship which the companions of the Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬did not do; do not do
it”.
Ibn Mas’ud r.a said:

“Follow and do not innovate, for the religion is complete. Adhere to the old way ie: the
way of the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬and the Sahabas”.

TRANSLATION
O Allah, I have reached the evening with blessings, strength and concealment of my
shortcomings, all of which are from You. So complete all the blessings and strength from
You and the concealment for me in this life and the hereafter.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:

“Whoever recite this Dua 3 times in the morning and evening has fulfilled his or hers
obligation of gratitude for the day”.

TRANSLATION
O Allah, what blessing I or any of Your creation have risen upon, is from You alone,
without partner, so for You is all praise and unto You all thanks.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE

“Whoever recites this in the morning has indeed offered his day’s thanks and whoever
says this in the evening has indeed offered his night’s thanks”.
Allah says in the Quran (14:7) “Indeed if you are grateful and give thanks, surely,
definitely I will increase you; but if you are ungrateful, then know that my punishment is
indeed most severe”.

O my Lord, all praises be to You as it should be due to Your Might and the Greatness of
Your Power.

Abdullah bin Umar r.a narrated:

The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬talked about a servant of the servants of Allah recited this Dua.
Then two angels feel heavy and do not know how to register his rewards and they
ascended to Allah and said:
“O our Lord, We do not know how record his reward when he recited these words”.
Allah replied:
“What did he recite?”
The second angel replied:

“he says ie.this Dua”.
Allah replied:
“Write reward as what just spoken by him until he meets me, I will reward him”.

“Allah has promised that anyone recites this Dua in the morning and evening will be
incumbent upon Allah to make him content on the Day of Resurrection”.

Fid-dunya wal-akhirah;

Wa’ahlee wama-lee;
Allah hummas-tur aaw-ra’tee;
Wa aa’mir raw-aa’tee;
Wah fiz’nee min bai’nee ya-dai’yaa;
Wa-min khal’fee;
Wa’aai ya’mee-nee;
Wa’aai shee’malee,
Wa-min faw’qee;
Wa’aa-oozubi aa’zaa-matika aan oogh-tala min tahtee.
TRANSLATION
O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in this life and the next. O Allah, I ask You
for pardon and well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and my
wealth. O Allah, veil my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay, and preserve me from
the front and from behind and on my right and on my left and from above, and I take
refuge with You lest I be swallowed up by the earth.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Ibn Umar r.a narrated:

“The Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬never failed to reciting this Dua in the evening and in the morning”.

SubhanAllahi wa-bihamdih;
Aa’dada khal’qi;
Wa’rida nafsih;
Wa’zinata aa’rshih;
Wa’midada kalimatih.
TRANSLATION
How perfect Allah is; and I praise Him by the number of His creation and His pleasure,
and by the weight of His throne, and the ink of His words.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE

The recitation of the words quoted in this Hadith is highly meritorious and rewarding
because they are full of Praise and Glorification of Allah.
Riyad-us-Saliheen 1433
Juwayriyah r.a narrated:

“The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬left her house one morning when he prayed Fajr, and she was in her
prayer place, then he came back after the forenoon and she was still sitting there.
He ‫ ﷺ‬said:
“Are you still as you were when I left you?”.
She said: “Yes”.
“After I left you, I said four words (ie: this Dua) three times, which if they were weighed
against what you have said today, they would outweigh it”.

Bismillah hil’lazee la yadur’oo ma’aas-mihi shai-oon fil-ardi wa’laa fis-samaa;

Wa’hu’waas samee’ool aa’leem.
TRANSLATION
In the name of Allah with whose name nothing is harmed on earth nor in the heavens
and He is The All-Seeing, The All-Knowing.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
The Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬said:

“Whoever recites this Dua three times, nothing will harm him”.

It was narrated that Abaan ibn ‘Uthmaan r.a said, narrating from Uthmaan Ibn Affaan r.a
who said:
I heard the Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬of Allah say:
“Whoever says this Dua, three times, will not be stricken with a sudden affliction until
morning comes, and whoever says them when morning comes will not be stricken with a
sudden affliction until evening comes”.

Your forgiveness for what I do unknowingly.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
The Messenger ‫ ﷺ‬warned us against shirk, fearing that his Ummah might fall into it, and
said:
“The thing I fear most for you is minor shirk”.

Also he ‫ ﷺ‬said:
“Shirk among you is more subtle than the sound of the footsteps of an ant on a rock,
shall I not tell you of something which, if you do it, this Dua it will take that away from
you both minor and major forms of it”.

“Whoever make a stop on a journey and say this Dua, nothing will harm him until he
moves on from that place”.

Abu Hurairah r.a said:

A man came to the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬and said:
“O Messenger of Allah, I was stung by a scorpion last night”.
He ‫ ﷺ‬said:
“If you had said this Dua, when evening came it would not have harmed you”.

O Allah, knower of the unseen and the seen, creator of the heavens and the earth, Lord
and sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped
except You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evil and shirk of
the devil, and from committing wrong against my soul or bringing such upon another
Muslim.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
The Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬taught one of his companions and said:

“Say this Dua in the morning and in the evening, and when you go to your bed”.

Anas Ibn Maalik r.a reports that Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬once mentioned to Fatima r.a to recite this
Dua in the morning and evening.

O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You, You created
me and I am Your servant and I abide to Your covenant and promise as best I can, I take
refuge in You from the evil of which I have committed. I acknowledge Your favour upon
me and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for verily none can forgive sin except You.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Shaddaad Ibn Aws r.a narrated, the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:

“Whoever says this Dua during the day, believing in it with certainty, then dies on that
day before evening comes, will be one of the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at
night, believing in it with certainty, then dies on that night before morning comes, will be
one of the people of Paradise”.

TRANSLATION
O Allah, verily I have reached the evening and call on You, the bearers of Your throne,
Your angels, and all of Your creation to witness that You are Allah, none has the right to
be worshiped except You, alone, without partner and that Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬is Your servant
and Messenger.
BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Anas ibn Malik r.a narrated, the Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬said:

“If anyone says this Dua in the morning or in the evening Allah will emancipate his fourth
from hell, if anyone says twice Allah will emancipate his half, if anyone says it thrice,
Allah will emancipate three-fourth and if he says four times, Allah will emancipate him
from hell”.

from disbelief and poverty, and I take refuge with You from the punishment of the grave.

BENEFIT AND VIRTUE
Abu Bakrah r.a would recite this Dua thrice every morning and evening as he heard the
Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬reciting it.

ten slaves; and one hundred good deeds will be written in his accounts, and one hundred
sins will be deducted from his accounts, and will be a shield for him from Saytaan that
day till night, and nobody will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more
than he”.

much as the foam of the sea”.

“Whoever says this Dua in the morning and in the evening 100 times, no one will come
on the Day of Resurrection with anything better than what he has done, except one who
