Microstrip Line

1
Q factor of Microstrip Line
Problem
A microwave antenna feed network operating at 5 GHz requires a 50
ohm printed transmission line that is 16λ long. Calculate the total
microstrip loss for copper microstrip, with height of substrate = 0.16
cm, relative permittivity = 2.20 and loss tangent 0.001
Solution
Problem
A microstrip line is designed on a 0.5mm alumina substrate (relative
dielectric constant = 9.9, and loss tangent = 0.001) for a 50 Ω
characteristic impedance. Calculate the length of this line to produce
required to produce a phase delay of 270 degree at 10 GHz. Also
compute the total loss on this line assuming copper conductors.
