LITERATURE
- is a collection of writings in prose or verse, especially writings having excellence of form or expression
and expressing ideas of permanent or universal interest.

2 Divisions of Literature:
 Poetry – broad genre of literature that is written in stanza form. It is characterized by a regular rhythmic
pattern, rhyme, horizontal and/ or vertical measure, imagery, symbolism and figurative language.
 Prose – broad genre of literature that is written in paragraph form. It is an expression that does not
have measure and rhyme and rhythm.
