World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of

Christian women of many traditions who come together to
observe a common day of prayer each year in March. It was
founded on the idea that prayer and action are inseparable in the
service of God’s kingdom. Each year a different country’s
committee writes the service and this
year, the women of the WDP Committee
of Slovenia have prepared the service. They invite us to learn
about Slovenia’s history, rich cultural diversity, & of their
experiences of God’s profound love and acceptance. The focus is
on Jesus’ parable of the Great Dinner in Luke 14: 15-24.
This year Jackson UMC (7817 Jackson School Road, Browns Summit,
NC) is hosting our community WDP celebration on Sunday, March
3 at 5 p.m.. All are invited to come join this worldwide effort to
support ecumenical efforts toward justice, peace, healing and
wholeness. The annual offering supports the work of WDP USA
and helps meet the needs of families in Slovenia and around the
world who are victims of many forms of poverty, violence, and
injustice. Refreshments will be served following the service.

One Great Hour of Sharing® (OGHS) is the Lenten Offering of the United Church of
Christ that supports disaster, refugee, and development
activities. It is part of the UCC’s national ministries and
one of the “5 for 5” special offerings of the UCC that
Monticello Church supports each year.

This year we will be collecting for the One Great Hour of

Sharing offering on Sunday, March 10, 2018. Our
giving to One Great Hour of Sharing is but one concrete
way we can show we are willing to reach beyond what
we can see. Our contributions become a part of God’s
abundant blessings to brothers and sisters in need,
worldwide … helping “more than we can imagine”!
