Classical to Modern Political Ideologies

To study various issues in Politics and governance, it is important to know the different theories, frameworks
and ideologies involve.

The goal of every government is to mobilize its citizen to achieve a common end, and that is, the welfare of the
state.

As a guide, governments use ideologies to help them consolidate the support of their constituents.

Ideology is basically defined as a political statement that aim to call upon massive mass or government to
achieve a relatively better political and economic condition.

Here are some political ideologies and their impact on political communities:

1. Conservatism.
As the name implies, one focus on conserving something
Characterized by a resistant to change
Adherent to limited human freedom
Chooses to maintain traditional values
2. Liberalism
It favors change
Prefers more freedom
Adheres to laissez-faire system where in the government does not interfere with the market
Has more optimistic approach to human reasoning
3. Marxism
-some of the ideological and conceptual bases of Marxism are the following
a. Alienation- -the relation between two or more people or parts of oneself in which one is cut off from
b. Class struggle- the conflict between the bourgeoise (the capitalist) and the proletariat (worker)
c. Materialism- how people think is greatly affected by how they live
d. Revolution- proclaiming violence to change the system
4. Anarchism- believes that since power corrupts, a better system based on voluntary cooperation and not on
power relation should be established.
5. Libertarianism- another version of anarchism but involves the government in minimal role such as ensuring
safety and fairness for everyone
