The article, “A Business Perspective on the Philippine Economy” by Rizalyn Mantaring explains the side

and reactions of the business sector to the government policies and reforms. She tried to express herself

on how it is still difficult for the foreign investors can make its way on contributing the country's

economic progress.

It is transparent form the beginning that this is all about the macroeconomic activity, specifically

between the government and the business sector. The author initially introduce the government making

its progressive way of improving the economy through reforms, however there are still some flaws that

has to be considered. How can the government assert its role in making policies more conducive in the

business sector and leading the country onto its desired outcome in the future.

The argument regarding the restrictions on starting up a business is obviously a biased statement. She

wanted these restrictions be reduced for the business sector can somehow freely moved in the market

but we know that these restrictions also served as the protection of the other business industries. She

entirely mentioned how these reform could shape the country’s economic growth by focusing on how

these reform could make a positive contribution on the business sector. An equal opportunity and

privileges to all should be considered in these reforms thus making it more fairer for everyone.

With the suggestion of tourism as one of the key drivers in boosting the economy, there are lot of things

that had been missed. We can also suggest the agricultural sector as one of these boosters and can be a

foundation and a way of efficient human capital yet selected lenses are only perceived by the business

sector.
It is appreciated to divide the into topic into its certain problems but this makes the article a little bit

more confusing to which one must had been addressed or must have been given more attention than

the entire general problem. There should be a proper and more organized sequence on how to connect

each of the topics with each other.
