Install BO Enterprise XI3 Client Software

Installation procedure
Use 1/1531-CNA 403 1452 Rev G

The installation consists of 4 parts


1. Part 1 – installation of Business Objects
2. Part 2 – installation of SP 2
3. Part 3 – Installation of FixPack
4. Part 4 - Installation and configuration of Sybase open Client

Part 1

Chapter 6.2.1

1. Install the WAS, refer to Reference [7]


2. Insert the EBID Media LZY 214 4335 R1B in cdrom drive D:\
3. Create a directory C:\ebid.
Within that directory create the following directory:

C:\ebid\install

4. Copy the ebid_client_install.ini file from D:\ebid_Scripts to the


C:\ebid\install directory.
5. Right click the ebid_client_install.ini file and select Open
6. Modify the parameters in the file as required.

Refer to the section on Silent Installation in Reference [8] for details on each parameter and
the values they can take. The following parameter must be modified (at a minimum)

PIDKEY - use the license key provided by local Ericsson support

7. Save the file and close


8. Select Start > Run... and type cmd Click OK.
9. Type D:\BO_Server\setup.exe -r C:\ebid\install\ebid_client_install.ini

BOEInstall_0.log
10. Press ENTER
11. A message will appear when installation is completed. It will take 15 minutes. Click OK

Chapter 6.2.2 Install Service Packs and FixPacks
See Section 7.2 on page 18

7.2 Upgrade BO Enterprise XI 3 Client Software


7.2.1 BO Enterprise Service Pack 2 (SP2) Upgrade Procedure

1. Insert the EBID upgrade Media (LZY 214 )


2. Create the following directory C:\ebid\upgrade
3. Copy the ebid_sp2_client_install.ini file from D:\ServicePack\E to the
C:\ebid\upgrade directory.
4. Select Start > Run... and type cmd Click OK
5. D:\ServicePack\SP2.exe -r C:\ebid\upgrade\ebid_sp2_client_install.ini

Logfile can be followed by typing %TEMP% in explorer

6. Press Enter

The installation of SP2 will fail on windows XP SP3 because SP2 is large windows Installer
patch package.
If the installations fails on windows 2003 install the microsoft patch.

A workaround for this issue can be found in:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925336

In short: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Safer\CodeIdentifiers
Change the registry value PolicyScope from 0 to 1 before starting the installation. When SP2 is
installed change PolicyScope back from 1 to 0.

7. A message will appear when installation is completed. Click OK


Part 3
Chapter 7.2.2 BO Enterprise XI 3 FixPack Upgrade Procedure

1. Insert the EBID upgrade Media


2. Create the following directory C:\ebid\upgrade
3. Copy the ebid_fp21_client_install.ini file from D:\FixPack\ebid_scripts to
the C:\ebid\upgrade directory
4. Select Start > Run... and type cmd Click OK
5. D:\FixPack\FP21.exe -r C:\ebid\upgrade\ebid_fp21_client_install.ini

6. Pres ENTER
7. A message will appear when installation is completed. Click OK

Part 4

Chapter 6.2.3 Post Installation Procedures

Install Sybase Open Client for OSS-RC connectivity from


D:\packages\sybase_pcclient_ASE_15.0.2 on the COMInf Utilities media, selecting the
complete installation option.

Configure the Windows hosts file


To permit 2-Tier connectivity, update C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with the IP
address, fully qualified host name and short host name of the BIS as follows:
IP Address Full Host Name Short Host Name
For example:
10.74.4.72 ossrcbis
The hosts file at Customerf on the client is adapated like:
172.24.82.201 bobxi.domain03.homebase.be srv343
10.107.64.11 masterdataservice

Once installation is complete, configure Sybase Open Client as described in Section 8.2 on page 22

Chapter 8.2.2 Configuration of Sybase Opent Client

1. Insert EBID Media LZY 214 4335 R1B


2. Create a directory C:\ebid\oc_connections
3. Copy the ebid_CreateConnection.bat file and the
connection_details_oc.txt from D:\ebid_Scripts to the
C:\ebid\oc_connections directory.
4. Modify the parameters contained within the connection_details_oc.txt file as
required.

The following values are used :


connectionType:SybOpenClientODBC
connectionName:bsd_connection
hostName:masterdataservice
port:5025

5. Rename the file to connection_details.txt


6. Double click the ebid_CreateConnection.bat file to install the connection.

7. Verify the installation of the connection by clicking Start > Programs > Sybase >
Connectivity > Open Client Directory Service Editor (Dsedit).
8. Select InterfacesDriver in the list, and click OK
9. Highlight the connection and verify that the attributes have the expected values

10. Right-click in the attributes pane and select Ping Server

A dialog box indicating connection successful should appear. If this dialog does not appear,
then manually update the information in this GUI

11. Repeat Steps 4-10 for additional connections

There are additional connections required:


csd_connection
(change the connectionName:bsd_connection parameter into
connectionName:csd_connection in connection_details.txt and run
ebid_CreateConnection.bat again.
From the server install
To change the port a server uses for accepting requests
1. Go to the "Servers" management area of the CMC.
2. Select the server, then choose Stop Server from the Actions menu.
3. Choose Properties from the Manage menu.
4. Under Common Settings, deselect the Auto-Assign check box for
Request Port, then type the port number you want the server to listen
on.
5. Click Save or Save & Close.
6. Start and enable the server.
The server binds to the new port, registers with the CMS, and begins listening
for BusinessObjects Enterprise requests on the new port.

Configure Sybase IQ open client:


If BO 6.5 is already installed then you don’t need to configure
Sybase IQ . Just use the old connection
