Student Scalar Example

This Scalar site discusses Disney's conspiracy theories and how they connect to people’s
everyday life. The writer’s home page explains the significance of Disney to him or her
personally. Conspiracies are when missing information or crossovers spark people to become
open to new ideas. Disney uses these overlaps to help the person watching connect to his or her
everyday life. The website states a few of the most popular Disney conspiracy theories. An
example is an evil witch from Brave that can travel through doors much like Boo from Monsters
Inc. Conspiracy theories show how the human mind adapts quickly in order to explain something
that is unexplained in the world. People are drawn to answers that answer their emotional needs
or energy. Other films, including Disney movies, let viewers interpret the films in creative ways.
Based on what people believe there could potentially be change politically. Filmmakers use
“Easter Eggs” to show these crossovers. Disney movies allow people to process emotionally the
events that occur in the film and connect it to their everyday lives. It may not be obvious to the
viewer, but Disney can make one think on a deeper level.

The example I chose was organized in a linear style; however, they had a table of
contents that allowed one to explore the website in a less linear way if desired. I navigated the
website in a linear fashion because it made the research project make sense. Any background
information needed for the next section was given in the previous section. The secondary
information was spread all throughout the website where needed; however, I am not entirely sure
what part if any was the primary research. I would like to adapt the linear style because it seems
the best way to show the information in a way that the readers could completely understand. It
would be nice to add a pathway that is less linear as well so that the reader to skip around if
desired.
