Analysis of the Effects of the Problem on Persons or Group

With the outbreak of Novel coronavirus (COVID-19), it creates fear from the
public. People are afraid for their lives as it is said to be a threat for the next
pandemic where lots of people will die. In fact, it is very true that many people lost
their love ones because of this virus all over the globe especially in the country of
China. While efforts to address the rising number of the COVID-19, the outbreak has
also revealed the darker side of human nature.

COVID-19 being a hot issue these past few months, a lot of media outlets
spread wrong information and enforce racial stereotypes. People from the Chinese
community have been widely affected because of this. Let’s say for example the
incident happened in one Canadian school district where parents sign a petition for
families who visited China be kept out for 17 days. The petition was denied, with the
caution that the virus is not Chinese it was originated from China. The petition itself
was discriminatory. It’s understandable that everyone is afraid because of the virus
but it is also wrong to fully assumed that the person has that kind of virus just
because he lives in that community. In 2020, large number of guests were
quarantined in the cruise ship Diamond Princess after a passenger from Hong Kong
tested positive. During the quarantine, the number of affected individuals of the virus
were doubled. From Philippines alone, 80 persons were tested positive.

Another thing is the hoarding of the price of face mask. People are so
desperate to buy face mask in order to protect their selves. And because of that,
some sellers who possessed more mask abuse their power and sell it at a highly
inflated price. This kind of situation can lead to imprisonment but because of the
ignorance of the people they just ignored it even though it cost them a lot of money.

What Donald Trump said was true, we are not defenseless but we are just
unprepared. It is advantageous for us because of the continuous development of
technologies that can help battle the said virus. It’s just that people are not prepared
and didn’t expect this virus to appear suddenly. Thus, advocating them would be a
great advantage in order for them to know how to prevent COVID-19.
