Accomplishments: Ensuring the operational and consistent delivery of training quality, Compliance of
training with requirements to meet the Council of Professional Recognition and DFPS requirements for
training and securing funding and writing grants for the sustainability of the business model. 
 
Wesley Community Center: Director of Education Services July 2007 to August 2013 
Responsibilities include Ensuring Department of Family and Protective Services requirements for
preschools were met; planning and managing budget and finances; facilitating and coordinating grants
and contracts with different funding sources; working collaboratively with diverse parents, as well
as diverse departments within the agency and partners and collaborators of Wesley's community;
Providing leadership in the near Northside community. This position reports to the Executive Director
and the Board of Directors as required. Responsible for Youth Program compliance with CJD, and design
of activities that provide homework assistance, tutoring in math and science, and enrichment and
recreation activities. 
Accomplishments: Obtain School Readiness Certification for the Pre-k Program, Started collaboration
with "Young Learners Charter School to offer state funded Pre-k for 3 and 4 year olds. Started
collaboration with Texas University to offer SOAR and became part of evidence based programming
for 2 year olds. Started BRIGANCE assessment for all early childhood education students that provided
evidence based baseline for children's progress and development. Increased utilization and maximize
resources by decreasing hired staff and increasing enrollment by 30%. Increased revenues for the
program by one hundred and nineteen thousand dollars through grants and contracts.
Training and Education Development

Responsibilities included; Design, develop, and provide training to staff for individual professional
development, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training,
demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops. 
Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
Review and evaluate training and apprenticeship programs for compliance with government standards.
Train instructors and supervisors in techniques and skills for training and dealing with employees.
Coordinate established courses with technical and professional courses provided by community
schools and designate training procedures. Prepare training budget for department. Supervise the
daily operation of their two early childhood programs for compliance with Department of Family and
Protective Services and accreditation standards. 
Accomplishments: 
Maintained accreditation certification for early childhood centers throughout tenure, increased
productivity and enrollment in early childhood programs, reduced staff turnover in early childhood
centers by 33% and maintained collaborations with HISD and Rice University Literacy Program.
Developed the educational model for Pre-K without walls Grant to expand the charter school to include
Pre-K services for Head start and privately owned child care facilities

Developed the Training department from star-up into a self sustaining department that employed
4 staff. Generated revenues for the department exceeding ninety thousand dollars a year and
maintained certification rate for students attending our program of over 95.3%. Designed, developed
and implemented the first Child Development Associate Coursework in Spanish in the city of Houston.

community members 
Participate in staff planning and to implement the agency's goals within the school. Interpret the school
programs and policies to the local community; Making decision about the hiring and placement of
all school staff. Conduct the supervision and evaluation of each teacher's performance. Provide in-
service and professional growth opportunities for teachers. Oversee the implementation of the annual
budget. Prepare regular financial reports; initiate and direct both short and long-range planning for the
school. Initiate and direct the identification of annual school goals based on the school's philosophy.
Establish and publish the local school calendar in accordance with the state law directives. Insure the

Accomplishments: 
Supervise approximately 60 staff including administrators, faculty, and paraprofessionals. Maintain
the recognized certification for the school, worked with faculty in the selection, and implementation of
curriculum for all grades. Attended Special Needs meetings and was part of the faculty involved in the
development of individualized educational programs for children. Maintain all compliance with Texas
Education Agency guidelines and mandates. Perform observations and annual evaluation of faculty.

Responsibilities included: Direct activities of preschool, to provide instruction and care for children:
Prepare and submit facility budget to funding sources for approval. Authorize purchase of instructional
materials and teaching aids, designed to stimulate learning. Interview and recommend hiring of
teaching and service staff. Confer with parents regarding facility activities, policies, and enrollment
procedures. Confer with teaching staff regarding child's behavioral or learning problems, and
recommend methods of modifying inappropriate behavior and encouraging learning experiences.
Review and evaluate facility activities to ensure conformance to state and local regulations. Review
and approve menu plans and food purchases. Prepare all reporting documents for funding sources and
oversee all operations in accordance with Department of Family and Protective Services for compliance
with state regulations 
Accomplishments: Developed business plan for start-up funding, increased enrollment from 28 children
to 99 children in a lapse of 6 months. Sold shares in the facility within 18 months after purchase.

Responsibilities included: Supervise and train assigned child care personnel in the performance of
their regulatory functions through group and individual sessions, orientation and activities, and/or
performs work of a highly technical level. Provide consultation on technical problems and complex
matters in child care regulation to child care program staff, other agency staff, facility operators, and
community groups. Conduct complex facility studies and evaluations, provide consultation on complex
problems and technical matters, manage a workload of facilities requiring intensive supervision,
monitor facilities for compliance with contract with the WorkForce Solutions. Assist the Child Care
Management Supervisor in ensuring the consistent application of child care standards and involvement
in community child care education and resource development. Interpret and explain state statutes,
rules, and associated procedures pertaining to the regulation of all types of child care facilities to
subordinate staff, other agency staff, providers, and community groups. 
Accomplishments: Maintained a caseload of between 55 and 65 facilities, designed checklists
and process mapping for vendors to manage the contract in a more efficient manner. Completed
assessments and provided technical assistance to 30 child care facilities providing them with action
plans and follow and training for staff to improve quality of services.
