Skiing Reflection
Throughout the course of Skiing at the Salt Lake Community College I have learned many things
about wellness. I have learned that at this point in time my stress levels are very low. I have found this
to be a result due to high activity and exercise. I find myself very happy in the outdoors. I love nature
and skiing can really help your stress levels because it is an amazing hobby that can be done by all ages.
It can help you deal with stress by releasing your energy by riding the mountain and you can learn
patience as well because you may not ride as well as you would like. Practicing will make you happy
because you can see yourself progress over time. I have learned that skiing can help an individual
physically because you’re very active on the mountain and you are using energy to carve the hill. Skiing
can help an individual mentally because you are using a lot of focus and it can help with your reaction
time and makes you think how fast or slow you must ride with the given depth differences.
I reached many of my goals over the time of this course. I expected to gain some knowledge
about skiing. I expected to get a lot of practice in and I expected to enjoy every Friday which I have
accomplished with great success. Skiing can help you reach your goals because you start making goals
on the mountain and then you find yourself trying to accomplish many other great deals in your life like
trying to get your job done at your workplace the most effective way. Skiing can help you in your life. I
At the beginning of this course I felt many ways about skiing. For instance, I have never done it
before, so I was expecting myself to go and looking like a fool every Friday, but I actually surprised
myself and my peers. I practiced a lot and rode well on the mountain the last four weeks of class. It was
fun to see myself put in some time on the mountain and in turn coming out successful. I feel a lot more
confident about skiing now that I have proved to myself that I can succeed. It was a great deal of fun
skiing with my peers as well. You will find that practicing at anything in life can always help you improve
in those areas. I feel great about skiing and I feel great about setting goals and accomplishing them.
Throughout the course you will find yourself learning many things about fitness. You need to be
at a certain level of flexibility to ski. I’m saying this because the first few times you ski after a while it is
just like exercising at the gym. You will be very sore in those areas of your legs because you don’t use
the muscles often. It helps you understand that you need to take the proper steps to exercise and
stretch your muscles before skiing because nobody likes to pull a muscle. I have learned that fitness
improves my overall happiness level and stress levels. I feel myself in a better mood when I get a lot of
exercise. Exercising is great for your body and your overall health because you will find yourself getting
more fit and feel a lot more energy throughout the day. If you ski you will learn many things about
yourself over the course of the semester that you would have ever known without it.
