Reliability

I. TEST-RETEST RELIABILITY (stability) – gives the same test to the same group of test
takers on 2 different times.
 Pearson r – the most widely used correlation coefficient to measure the degree of
relationship between linear related variables; pair of interval or continuous
 Spearman rho – is a non-parametric test that is used to measure the degree of
association between two variables; pair of ordinal
II. PARALLEL-FORM RELIABILITY (equivalence) – different forms of the same test are
administered to the same group at different times
III. INTERNAL CONSISTENCY – consistency among the items in the test and is administered
once.
 Split-half reliability: spearman brown formula : splitting the items on a
questionnaire or test in half, computing a separate score for each half (odd or even).
 Cronbach alpha – used when two halves of a test have unequal variances; for scaled
data
 KR 20 – used for binary; dichotomous choices(right/wrong)
