doctorate. ● Apprenticeship- The position of an apprentice. ● Associate Degree- An undergraduate degree awarded after a course of post-secondary study lasting two or three years. ● Bachelor’s Degree- An undergraduate academic degree awarded by colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study lasting three to seven years ● Campus Visit- A tour of a college or university's campus. ● Campus College- A campus is traditionally the land on which a college or university and related institutional buildings are situated. ● College Admissions Test- These tests, also called college entrance exams, are designed to measure students' skills and help colleges evaluate how ready students are for college-level work. ● College Fair- Fairs are commonly used for entry-level job recruitment. ● Community College- A nonresidential junior college offering courses to people living in a particular area. ● Community Service Learning- A teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. ● College Credit- Normal full-time studying is usually 15 credit hours per semester or 30 credit hours per academic year. ● Degree- A degree given to students of a higher learning institution signifying required credits have been obtained in specific areas of study. ● Financial Aid- Money that is given or lent to students in order to help pay for their education She qualified for financial aid. ● Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA)- A form completed by current and prospective college students (undergraduate and graduate) in the United States to determine their eligibility for student financial aid. ● Grant- A sum of money given by a government or other organization for a particular purpose. ● Higher Education- Education beyond high school, especially at a college or university. ● College Major- A group of courses required by a college in order to receive a degree. ● Military Service- A period of service in the armed forces that every man in certain countries has to do. Many conscripts resent having to do their military service. ● Postsecondary- A reference to any education beyond high school. ● Public College- Any institution of higher education or any technical or vocational school above the secondary school level. ● Resume- A brief account of a person’s education, qualifications, and previous ● experience, typically sent with a job application. ● Salary- A fixed regular payment, typically paid on a monthly or biweekly basis but often expressed as an annual sum, made by an employer to an employee, especially a professional or white-collar worker. ● Scholarships- A grant or payment made to support a student's education, awarded on the basis of academic or other achievement. ● Technical College- A college providing courses in a range of practical subjects, such as information technology, applied sciences, engineering, agriculture, and secretarial skills. ● Transcript- A written or printed version of material originally presented in another medium. ● University- An educational institution designed for instruction, examination, or both, of students in many branches of advanced learning, conferring degrees in various faculties, and often embodying colleges and similar institutions. ● Work Study- Relating to a college program that enables students to work part-time while attending school.
