Materials  Smartboard

Procedure:  Before:
o I built the background of Kenya as a country rather
than jumping into the requirements of language,
culture, and education
o This allowed learners to feel more confident with the
country rather than getting thrown into the
information without any prior information
o There is no prior knowledge that could be activated;
however, points were built on American education.
 During:
o Questioning: after every large topic and subtopics,
questions were asked to see if the students were on
the right track and retaining the information.
o Modeling: I was modeling by using academic
language and vocabulary words which students
modeled in the response to the questions.
o Check for understanding: after each topic, questions
were asked.
 After:
o Closure: using a video to sum up and tie together all
points that were taught within the lesson. Exit slip
will be collected.
o Activities: groupwork when reading articles and
pulling out key information. This will be discussed
as a class and then the material will be presented.
o Evaluation: the exit slip that will be presented will
evaluate students and the material grasped.

Formative  While I was presenting information at the end of each topic,

Assessment I would ask questions listed on the slide. This engaged
students to pay attention so they could participate.
