Family Partnership Plan

My program’s mission is to foster a love for learning and exploring in children. Involving parents
is how we will ultimately reach our goal. When children’s parents are involved in preschool, they learn
about childhood development and will come to understand our philosophies and beliefs about how to
encourage a love for learning. When parents are involved in preschool, then that is when children’s
learning is truly extended and supported in the home.

Family partnership is beneficial for the children simply because they spend more time with their
caregivers and it supports a secure attachment between the parents and the child. The children also
learn more while they are at home. Through parents’ involvement, the parents are more educated and
understand some childhood strategies that we use in preschool. This is beneficial for parents because it
teaches them new ways to connect with their children. Also, this means parents can extend learning
while the children are at home through some of the same strategies as those used in preschool. When
parents are involved in preschool, childhood development as well as parental development is commonly
the result. This, in turn, benefits the whole community by strengthening its members.

There are many ways that the parents can be involved in preschool during preschool hours.
Parents can help provide positive learning experiences by being guest speakers and talking about their
gifts and talents, they can participate in a variety of activities as the children play, and they can also
supervise certain activities that may be more challenging for the children. Parents can help the program
with paperwork, setting up preschool activities, cleaning up preschool afterwards, helping teachers plan
lessons/activities by providing new creative ideas, participating in staff meetings, providing program
feedback through completing surveys, and helping with other miscellaneous housekeeping needs.

If parents are unable to be involved with the preschool during preschool hours, they can be
involved in other ways while being at home. Parents can conduct a toy drive to provide the program with
a greater resource of materials, put together weekly newsletters, manage the social media pages,
manage the program’s website, and gather household beautiful junk items to donate.

Parents are encouraged to be involved with the preschool. They will regularly be given resources
to keep them updated about preschool happenings through the weekly newsletters. These newsletters
will provide opportunities for parents to participate by providing ideas about how they can be involved.
There will be a bulletin board on both the social media page and the website in which parents will sign
up to volunteer their time and talents. Parents will also be asked about their involvement preference on
their application. As relationships develop, I will ask parents face to face if they can be involved with
specific days/events.

To encourage continued involvement from parents, one of the most important strategies is to
keep the relationship that you have with them going strong. This can be done by communicating with
the parents about their experience, providing thank you notes, and just being their friend. I will also host
events to gather the staff and parents to encourage relationship building. These events will have food
and games. There will also be surveys for parents in which they give feedback about how we can
improve, which will help the parents feel valued and important.

In order to take record of parent involvement, we will have a sign-up sheet for parents to log
when and how long they volunteered. We will also keep record of the parent feedback surveys and be
sure to take pictures of the parents in their involvement. Occasionally there will be a parent involvement
appreciation post in the social media page and website showing these pictures of positive parent
interactions and involvement.
