FIELD ACTIVITY REPORT AT BIT-OS, AUPAGAN & CABADBARAN DATED

FEBRUARY 25, 2020

Objective:

To be able to see the actual structures from our discussion. / To be able to

see the theory become the reality.

Person’s Involved:

Section 1, Engr. Galinzoga, Caretaker.

Observation:

We have seen the actual of our discussion and for that we tend to understand
more rather than imagining it.

In Bit-Os:

we visited the pumping station and based on what I have observed that their
source is coming from Agusan River it also has a river stage which measures the
level of the water. The discussion during the field, the water also settles before
coming in to the station and it is filtered by using trash rack before coming in to the
station. Unfortunately, the pumping station is not functioning at the moment because
it has been damaged, we have also seen their big mechanical and controlling
system. we are so grateful that we were able to see that personally. In the same
place we have also seen the equipment in measuring the precipitation gauge but. we
also get to see the ongoing construction of Gabions and Mattress and it’s really a big
grain of stone covered with a wire mesh. it’s totally different on what I have thinking.
We have also observed the canals and other kind of slope protection. And as we go
onwards, we also see the regulating pond and it was different again in my
interpretation because I thought that regulating pond is a reservoir has a velocity but
the water is only still, another structure are Head gates, Gates, main canals, sub-
main and by the road we encounter the elevated flume and inverted siphon we also
pass by bench flume with stiffener. And I also observed some canals have a lot of
trashes.

In Aupagan:

We observe that there is a source and intake structure, and there are also slope
protection structures. (Grouted Riprap, Gabions, and others if not mentioned.)

DOCCUMENTATION (AUPAGAN)

Grouted Riprap
In Cabadbaran:

Calamba Dam first thing that I observe is the water can also be used or can
also be a source of Domestic use because the water is clean and the velocity is
really fast. Aside from that I observe that there is a structure that can make the
velocity of excess water slower and onwards there are also slope protection
structures. And it is also a aesthetic.

Recommendation:

I have nothing to recommend about the structure or the system that we have visited,
but there’s something I can suggest not for the structure but for the safety of the users, to put
signages something that can aware the people that using around the perimeters. It is really
much better that if the students can experience the fun and joy to see the actual structures so
that they can also differentiate the theory to the actual like on what I have experience. We
memorize its definition but we can’t identify that certain structure. That’s why field trip is
highly recommended for the Civil Engineering Student to see the theory become a reality.
