• Agitator — Check this box for setting the temperature of the agitator (incubation oven)
in °C, when the sampler is not running (stand-by condition). The control of the stand-by
syringe temperature is enabled. The temperature is thermo-regulated from 40 to 150 °C.
If this box is unchecked, the temperature below 40 °C is not thermo-regulated but the
syringe is ready only if its temperature is actually below 40 °C.
Advanced Parameters
In this field set the following parameter:
• Needle Speed In Vial (mm/s) — Set the penetration speed, in millimeters per second, of
the syringe needle into the sample vial.
The SPME Method Parameters Setup pages are available if you have selected SPME as
method mode in the Instrument setup. Refer to Configuring SPME Method Mode.
Desorb Port
This field comprises the following option:
• Injector — Select the injector to use in the method, choosing among the options listed in
the combo box.
Mode
This field specifies how the sample must be conditioned.
• Incubation Mode — Choose between two incubation modes:
– Constant: In this mode the sample is sequentially conditioned at a programmed
temperature with a constant conditioning time.
– Progressive: In this mode the sample is conditioned at a programmed temperature
with a conditioning time that increases for each sample according to a programmed
additional time.
Incubation
This field contains the conditioning and shaking parameters. Vial shaking is used to decrease
the time necessary for the sample equilibrium.
• Agitator Temperature (°C) — Set a temperature for the agitator (incubation oven) while
the autosampler is not running (stand-by condition). The temperature is
thermo-regulated from 40 to 150 °C.
• Agitator wait for readiness — Check this box to enable the control of the temperature.
The temperature is thermo-regulated from 40 to 150 °C. If this box is unchecked, the
temperature below 40 °C is not thermo-regulated but the agitator is ready only if its
temperature is actually below 40 °C.
• Incubation Time — Specify the incubation time for all samples to be analyzed with the
method in use. This time is given in minutes.
• Agitator On — Specifies the time for shaker on. The vial shaking is used to decrease the
time in seconds necessary for the sample equilibrium.
• Agitator Off — Specifies the time for shaker off.
Injection
This field includes the following injection parameters.
• Injector Depth (mm) — Specifies the depth in millimeters of the protective
needle into the injector. The value reflects the total length including the
length of the fiber.
• Penetration speed (mm/s) — Set the penetration speed of the fiber into the injector.
This speed is set according to the septa and needle characteristics.
• Desorption Time (min) — This parameter specifies the desorption time in minutes of
the fiber into the injector.
Analysis Time
This box contains the full runtime of a single sample and it is used for calculation of the
multiple sample incubation times when the incubation time is longer than the analysis
runtime. The autosampler automatically sample by sample with the last runtime.
• Analysis Time (min) — Specifies the full runtime in minutes of a single sample.
Derivatization
This field includes the Derivatization parameters:
Conditioning Port
This field includes the following parameters.
• Port ID — This parameter specifies the injection port or the fiber conditioning port to
be used for fiber back out.
• Pre Desorption Time (min) — This parameter specifies the pre desorption time in
minutes of the fiber in the conditioning port.
• Post Desorption Time (min) — This parameter specifies the post desorption time in
minutes of the fiber in the conditioning port.
Custom Method
Custom Method automates basic sample preparation as Calibration Dilution, Sequential
Dilution, Sample Standard Addition, and Derivatization.
Custom Methods allow you to select a custom method from a set of methods. Opening a
custom method loads all of the necessary parameters. Navigate to the folder where custom
methods are installed to locate the desired method.
Note Initially, no custom methods come pre-installed with the TriPlus.RSH. However,
custom methods may be supplied to support specific requirements. These methods may
be loaded by selecting Load Custom Method from the TriPlus RSH menu.
