Job Title: Instructional Leader

Location: Green Mountain High School

Mission
The mission of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) is to influence teacher practice and foster
instructional continuity through continuous learning cycles in order to increase student academic
learning, engagement, and performance.

Vision
The Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) will have the skillset, knowledge and systemic structure to
assess, prioritize, and make decisions for the instructional direction of GMHS.

Team Representation
Principal, C&I AP, Instructional Coach, DTL, ESL Coach, ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, SpEd,
Counselor, CTE Building Coordinator, 1-2 Electives

Learning and leading takes place everywhere.

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION


● Meet weekly during 3rd period common plan
● Lead instructional department, content, and team meetings
● Willingness to put in time outside of weekly ILT meetings to foster a collaborative culture
● Passionate commitment to the thriving academic growth of GMHS
● Lead implementation of Continuous Improvement Cycles (fractals) and initiatives within
department
● Length of term: staggered 2-year term commitment and re-application
● Compensation: Stipend per year

● Possesses strong instructional expertise including goal setting and progress monitoring
● Believes that all students and teachers can achieve at high levels
● Strong leadership, presentation/speaking, and organizational skills
● Models a high level of professionalism
● Experience and interest in professional learning communities and collaboration

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES​ include the following. Ongoing training and support
will be provided. Other duties may be assigned.
● School Leadership
o Analyze and interpret school and student data to assist in identifying curriculum needs
and developing the school Unified Improvement Plan
o Design and facilitate professional development
o Assist with providing purpose and direction for the school
● Department Curriculum and Instructional Leadership
o Model and share content knowledge and instructional expertise
o Provide focus on student learning and student success
o Support the use and interpretation of student data
o Sensemaking around complex educational initiatives
o Provide growth-producing feedback to teachers to support instructional continuity
(researched best practices)
oParticipate in Learning Labs that support continuous improvement
oManage the development of curriculum and instructional programs that recognize the
contributions of diverse groups and foster success for all students regardless of gender,
race, or disability
o Collaborate to mentor new to GM teachers
● Community Building
o Assist with guiding the development of a caring community that includes stakeholders in
the school and department.
o Presume positive intentions and instill a collaborative environment
o Model excellent rapport with students and staff
● Management
o Organize and progress monitor Continuous Improvement Cycles (fractals)
o Hold self and others accountable for following through, meeting deadlines, providing
data, and communicating
o Professional Learning Community
▪ Knowledge of department instructional and resource needs
▪ Knowledge of department/content discussions pertaining to instructional
continuity and common assessments
▪ Ability to communicate the department’s PLC progress, needs, and challenges to
ILT
