Copies of the procedures in effect for Regular Board Meetings are available for the public at tonight's meeting, MISSION STATEMENT The Glen Rock School District founded on principles of education, in partnership with a supportive community, provides an exceptional education to all students to cultivate resilient, responsible and engaged global citizens. STATEMENT TO THE PUBLIC Often times it may appear to members of our audience that the Board of Education takes action with very little comment and in many cases by unanimous vote. Before a matter is placed on the agenda at a public meeting, the administration has thoroughly reviewed the matter with the Superintendent of Schools. If the Superintendent of Schools is satisfied and Board of Education President concurs that the matter is ready to be presented to the Board of Education, it is then placed on the agenda at the next Board of Education meeting. The members of the Board work With the administration and the Superintendent of Schools to assure that they fully understand the matter. After the Committee of the Whole approves the matter, itis placed on the agenda for action at a public meeting. In rare instances, matters are presented to the Board of Education for discussion at the same meeting that final action may be taken. Byrd Elementary School, The total cost of these projects is $1,011,090 which represents expenditures for construction elements or projects that are in addition to the facilities efficiency standards determined by the Commissioner as necessary to achieve the New Jersey Learning Standards. Be it resolved by the Glen Rock Board of Education, that the Board, upon recommendation of the Business Administrator, approves the following resolution regarding Employee Travel and Related Expenses: Whereas, school district policies 2033, 3310, 4131, 4133, 4233 and bylaw 9250 regarding travel reimbursement and related expenses and N.J.A.C. 6A:23B-1.2(b) provided that the Board of Education shall establish in the 2019-2020 school budget a maximum expenditure amount that may be allotted for such travel and expense reimbursement in the amount not to exceed $96,350.00; and ‘Whereas, the Board Of Education has incurred travel and related expenses as of February 29, 2020 in the amount of $43,439.00 for the 2019-2020 school year; and Whereas, school district policies 2033, 3310, 4131, 4133, 4233 and bylaw 9250 regarding travel reimbursement and related expenses and N..A.C. 64:23B01.2(b) provides that the Board Of Education shall establish in the annual school budget a maximum expenditure amount that may be allotted for such travel and expense reimbursement for the 2020-2021 school year, Now, therefore be it resolved, that the Glen Rock Board of Education hereby establishes the school district travel maximum for the 2020-2021 Tentative Budget in the sum of $100,955.00; and Be it further resolved, that the School Business Administrator shall track and record these costs to ensure that the maximum amount is not exceeded. English Department staff (Gr. 6-12 Teachers), in conjunction with Principals. POSITION SUMMARY: ‘The Supervisor of English (‘Supervisor’) will be responsible for the instructional leadership of the English department in grades 6-12, This, invoives the supervision of staff (including Special Education staff, the monitoring of student progress, K-12 curriculum development, monitoring, evaluating, and the evaluation and development of the program. The ‘Supervisor will provide leadership in the formulation of goals, plans, policies and budgets related to histher departments, and recommend them to Principals or the Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Operations, as may be appropriate, The Supervisor will collaborate with district administrators, faculty and staff, and other district constituencies, as needed to accomplish the goals of the position PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates the necessary leadership skills and personal characteristics to carry out the philosophy and program of instruction of the Glen Rook Public School District: ‘A. Instructional Supervision 1 ‘Supervises and eveluates department staff members in conjunction with principals. Monitors instruction of Board approved curriculum in English. ‘Works with teachers in all aspects of English instruction, including articulation from grade to grade, Leads teachers in monitoring the progress of students through analysis of assessment results. Works collaboratively with High School Department Leaders and K-12 teachers to integrate instruction across content areas. Works collaboratively with principals and assistant principals in the supervision of department staff members and instruction in the buildings, as needed. ‘Supports all English teachers in the creation of rigorous, curriculum aligned SGOs with specified methods of assessing achievement of goals. B. Curriculum Development and Revision 1 2, 3, Provides leadership in the development of the K-12 English curriculum, Develops and carries out long-range plans for the English programs. Works with principals in all aspects of the English curriculum, including articulation from grade to grade. Works collaboratively with principals and other supervisors to integrate instruction across content areas, C. Conducts orientation and training for new department staff members, Provides for ongoing professional development of all department staff. Maintains a high level of expertise in English education; keeps abreast of current research and recommendations; and leads departmental study of same, Uses evaluation for selfimprovement; carries out individual professional improvement plan developed with supervisor; and carries out other supervisory directions. Models and co-teaches lessons for department staff members as needed. D. Administration and Procedures 1 Participates in the recruitment and selection of department personnel. Chairs system-wide committees and study groups, as required. Plans and participates in information sessions for the Board and public, as required. Serves as liaison with community groups, as required. Prepares department budgets and oversees ordering and disbursement of instructional materials. POSITION SUMMARY: ‘The Supervisor of Mathematics (“Supervisor”) will be responsible for the instructional leadership of the Mathematics department in grades 6-12. This involves the supervision of staff (including Special Education staff), the monitoring of student progress, K-12 curriculum development, monitoring,evaluating, and the evaluation and development of the program. The Supervisor will provide leadership in the formulation of ‘goals, plans, policies and budgets related to his/her departments, and recommend them to Principals or the Assistant Superintendent of innovation and Operations, as may be appropriate, The ‘Supervisor will collaborete with district administrators, faculty and staff, and other district constituencies, as needed to accomplish the goals of the position, PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates the necessary leadership skils and personal characteristics to carry out the philosophy and program of instruction of the Glen Rock Public School District: A. Instructional Supervision 1. ‘Supervises and eveluates department staff members in conjunction with principals. Monitors instruction of Board approved curriculum in Mathematics. Works with teachers in all aspects of Mathematics instruction, including articulation from grade to grade, Leads teachers In monitoring the progress of students through analysis of assessment results. ‘Works collaboratively with High School Department Leaders and K-12 teachers to integrate instruction across content areas. Works collaboratively with principals and assistant principals in the supervision of department staff members and instruction in the buildings, as needed. Supports all Mathematics teachers in the creation of rigorous, curriculum aligned SGOs with specified methods of assessing achievement of goals. B, Curriculum Development and Revision 1 Provides leadership in the development of the K-12 Mathematics curriculum, Develops and carries out long-range pians for the Mathematics programs. Works with principals in all aspects of the Mathematics curriculum, including articulation from grade to grade. Works collaboratively with principals and other supervisors to integrate instruction across content areas. C. Professional Development 1 2. 3. 4 Provides mentorship, support and guidance for novice and veteran staff Conducts orientation end training for new department staff members. Provides for ongoing professional development of all depariment staff. Maintains high level of expertise in Mathematics education; keeps abreast of current research and recommendations; and leads departmental study of same. Uses evaluation for self-improvement; carries out individual professional improvement plan developed with supervisor; and certies out other supervisory directions. ‘Models and co-teaches lessons for department staff members as needed. D. Administration and Procedures 1 2. 3 Pariicipates in the recruitment and selection of department personnel. Chairs system-wide committees and study groups, as required. Pians and patticipates in information sessions for the Board and public, as required Serves as liaison with community groups, as required. Prepares department budgets and oversees ordering and disbursement of instructional materials, Contributes to efforts to accomplish system-wide goals and school objectives. Works cooperatively with professional staff in planning and implementing the effective use of Instructional and educational technology across the curriculum. Observes, evaluates, and reviews the performance of teachers, support staff, and other staff as assigned. ‘Assists in the planning and implementation of the district's technology in-service education program for instructional staff and suppor staff. Evaluates the districts technology plan and education program; recommends changes 8 appropriate, Provides leadership in the development of district policies related to the use of instructional and educational technology, computer software and online services. Cooperates with administrators, school principals, and supervisors in the development of a district-wide electronic information system and provides technical assistanca, as needed. Maintains 2 catalog of available instructional and educational hardwareltools and works cooperatively with administrative staff o provide access to appropriate software for feacher and student use. Assists in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that relate to instructional and educational technology. Represents the district's technology education program to the public through comput workshops and olher presentations. Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with major vendors and entities in the private sector which might provide support for technology in the schools, ‘Seeks outside funding for educetionalinstructional technology through grants and/or in kind donations, Assists in the development, implementation, analysis, and data generating for district-wide assessments as directed by the Assistant Superintendent and/or principals, Works with Media Center Specialists to develop budgets, purchasing of books, purchasing relevant technology and other areas as may be assigned. Oversees district Makerspaces and STEM related curriculum. Recommends equipment 7 18. 19. 20, purchases as needed.
