HOUSE OFFICER
SUPERVISOR: SPECIALIST MEDICAL OFFICER
JOB SUMMARY:
The House Officer will be responsible for diagnosing and administering general medical
treatment to patients in a hospital or through extension services at a clinic, school or other
designated place. Work involves the examination of patients, performing investigations
and carrying out necessary medical treatment in the prevention and control of diseases.
He/she will also be required to assist in major operations. Work is performed under the
general supervision of the professional superior.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
Refers patients to professional superiors for more detailed attention, as may appear
necessary.
Knowledge Requirements:
Knowledge of principles and practices of medicine including the diagnosis of a
variety of diseases and injuries.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of preventative medicine.
Knowledge of Public Health Ordinance and of medical jurisprudence.
