1. Dictionary entries: Pronunciation, Meaning, Type of Word, Phonetic transcription

Activity 1. Look for the following groups of words in your dictionary. Identify the dictionary entries above
mentioned.
Enterprise: Noun. /ˈentəpraɪz/ . An organization, especially a business, or a difficult and important plan,
especially one that will earn money.
Manager: Noun. /ˈmænədʒɚ/. The person who is responsible for managing an organization
Staff : Noun. /stæf/ . The group of people who work for an organization .
Service : Noun. /ˈsɜːvɪs/ Agovernment system or private organization that is responsible for a particular type
of activity, or for providing a particular thing that people need.
Good: Adjetive. /ɡʊd/ . Very satisfactory, enjoyable, pleasant, or interesting.
Secretary : Noun. /ˈsekrəteri/ . Someone who works in an office, writing letters, making phone calls, and
arranging meetings for a person or for an organization.
Office : Noun. /ˈɒfɪs/ . Aroom or part of a building in which people work, especially sitting at tables with
computers, phones, etc., usually as a part of a business or other organization
Documents : Noun. /ˈdɒk.jə.mənt/ . Apaper or set of papers with written or printed information, especially
of an official type.
Computer: Noun. /kəmˈpjuːtər/ . An electronic device that can store large amounts of information and be
given sets of instructions to organize and change it very quickly.
Printer: Noun. /ˈprɪn·tər/ . A machine that is connected to a computer and prints onto paper using ink.
