HAZARDS THAT ALL PALLET JACK OPERATORS SHOULD BE AWARE OF, INCLUDING:
Foot Injuries – when loads are dropped or the pallet jack moves over foot
Back Trauma – from moving a loaded pallet jack or adjusting a heavy load
Shoulder Strain or Dislocation – when the pallet jack is pulled too forcefully
Bruising – tripping hazards caused by the pallet jack forks
Property Damage – when the heavy load strikes a corner, column, wall or other stationary object
Survey the workplace , where the pallet jack may be used and clean up any spills .
DO NOT operate equipment without wearing appropriate PPE.
DO NOT rush task.
DO NOT overload a trolley, and if load obstruct operator view he should drive it at the reverse direction.
Inspect the wheels to ensure they are rolling easily and do not have flat spots
Make sure there are no fluid leaks coming from the pallet jack
Test the controls, handles, levers and horn on the pallet jack to make sure everything is working
Report damaged or excessively worn pallet jacks.
Do not carry riders on the truck.
Center the forks evenly under the load to maintain good balance.
Ensure the stability of the load.
Use both forks for lifting a load.
Pull rather than push loads for increased maneuverability.
Operate at a controllable speed,
Park the pallet truck out of traffic areas in a safe, level place with the forks lowered.
DUTY OF WORKERS:
To take reasonable care of your own safety and other than may be harm from the activities preform
Follow safety instruction and procedures
Use of safety equipment properly and not tamper with it
Report any situation with you believe could be a hazard and you cant correct
Report any work related accident or ill health
