CHAPTER III

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

3.1. Introduction

This study is an evidence-based project that will gather qualitative information

regarding the research entitled, _________________________________________.

This chapter presents a detailed account of the data collection then followed with an

in-depth description of the procedure used.

3.2. Research Design

The purpose of this study is to explore the different views

of_______RESPONDENTS________ in correspond with their

_______________________________. This was accomplished by conducting

interviews to selected respondents who have great experience in what area of field

or topic of the study. Phenomenology as a design guided the researchers to explore

the different experiences of people who have shared a “common” phenomenon

(Lichtman, 2006 as cited by McCullough, 2012). According to Creswell (1998) as cited

by Maxwell (1996), a phenomenological study describes the lived experiences of

people about a certain event or situation. Phenomenology was used to further

discover a wide range of views of respondents sharing their duty experiences in the

hospital.

3.3. Research Locale

The study was conducted at

3.4. Sample or Respondents

Respondents are the most important in conducting a study to gather rich and in-

depth information. In this study, how many respondents. The sample was obtained

through snowball sampling method

3.5 Research Instruments

Interview

Interview is the first data gathering procedure to be used. Same question will

be disseminated to the participants and the answer will be organized. The researcher

will now then identify the pattern of the answer. They can now summarize the more

detailed question’s answer and conclude through the interpretation of data. The

interview is one of the most important procedure to be used because through this we

can get different answer through different person. Then, we can get a more generalize

data through one’s opinion and perspective.

Focus Group Discussion

In focus group discuss ion, we the researchers, will be meeting the

____RESPONDENTS____________ and one of us will raise the different questions

we formed based on our research topic and one of us also will be giving a follow up

question for details. During the discussion, one of us will be assigned to write and

record the respondent’s answers and of course one of us also will assigned to take a

picture and a video and someone will be assigned to observe the respondent’s

mannerism, reactions and how they answer the questions. After that we will

summarize the respondents’ answers to find the general answer.

3.6. Data Gathering Procedures

Researchers made an interview questionnaire and focus group discussion that

will cover all the topic of the study. The interview questionnaires were given to

selected respondents in Angadanan National High School. No individually identifying

data is being collected.

3.7. Data Analysis Procedures

After gathering the answers of the chosen respondents, the researchers made a

matrix to see to it if the answers from the respondents differ or have similarities.

The information obtained from the content analysis will be form into paragraph.

Similar pattern of answers in each paragraph were analyzed to provide additional

data on the topic of the study.
