Our fertility treatments
At Lister Fertility Clinic, we’re proud to offer an expansive range of fertility treatments to ensure that your
individual needs are met. Whilst we primarily assist individuals and couples who wish to have children via
IVF (in vitro fertilisation), there are other options available.

In vitro fertilisation (IVF)
IVF is used to treat a wide range of fertility
problems. For many, such as tubal factor or
age-related infertility, it may be the first-line of
treatment for couples, or can be recommended
if simpler treatments are unsuccessful.
Once you have visited our clinic and a mutual
decision has been made to embark on IVF, we will
guide you through the process step-by-step.
We maximise continuity for you by ensuring that
you see the same sonographer at each scan, and
have a dedicated consultant to guide you through
treatment.

 A wide range of fertility treatments
Blastocyst transfer
• Research has shown that
pregnancy rates are improved
in some women when embryos
are transferred at the blastocyst
stage. This takes place five or
six days after egg collection.
Egg (ovum) donation
• For women who are unable to
produce viable eggs, we offer
options for undergoing
treatment using donor eggs.
Egg freezing
• Egg freezing helps to preserve a
woman’s fertility. A woman may
wish to defer childbearing until
later in their life, or she may be
facing medical treatment which
could lead to a decline or total
loss of her fertility.
Egg sharing
• This programme offers
significantly reduced cost IVF
to suitable women who wish
to share their eggs. The sharer
will have extensive counselling
on the legal and ethical
implications of egg donation.

Embryo freezing and
replacing frozen embryos
• Any top quality supernumerary
embryos not transferred in a
fresh cycle can be frozen and
replaced in a future cycle
without undergoing the same
drug treatment and surgery.
Endoscopy surgery
• Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy
can be used to treat conditions
such as tubal infertility, removal
of fibroids and endometriosis.
Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm
Injection (ICSI)
• ICSI involves the injection of a
single sperm directly into the egg
using a special prepared needle.
It is recommended for severe
cases of male infertility or where
there has been no fertilisation
following IVF previously.
Intracytoplasmic Morpholoigcal
Sperm Injection (IMSI)
• IMSI offers a modification of the
ICSI technique where sperm
samples are examined under a
microscope that is almost 6,000
times more powerful to better
assess their “morphology” for
those with previous ICSI failure.
At a higher power the
embryologist can identify tiny
defects in the sperm head which
are not visible with standard ICSI.
Preimplantation Genetic
Diagnosis (PGD)
• For those with medical conditions
that could be passed on to
potential offspring, we offer PGD.
This treatment aims to select
embryos for transfer that do
not carry the defective gene.
Preimplantation Genetic
Aneuploidy Screening (PGAS)
• This aims to reduce the risk of
miscarriage by avoiding the
transfer of genetically abnormal
embryos. It may improve the
chances of live birth if a good
number are produced to biopsy.
Semen freezing
• Some men struggle to produce
a semen sample on the day of
egg collection. We offer semen
freezing to alleviate some of
the associated stress. We also
offer this treatment for men
who may need to freeze their
semen before undergoing
medical treatments that may
impact sperm quality.
Surgical sperm retrieval
• Surgical sperm retrieval is
a treatment option we
offer for men with an
absence or blockage of
the tube (vas deferens) or
non-obstructive azoospermia.
