Course Objective:
1. To acquaint the students with the knowledge of high voltage AC and DC transmission
systems
2. To aware the students about the history and advanced control strategies to the
requirement of integration issues of renewable energy sources in power systems.
3. To get acquainted with the additional hardware and systems to meet the outcome
mentioned in 2 above.

circuit, 12- pulse converter based HVDC systems and their characteristics,
Principal of DC link control, Control of Converters, Firing angle control, Starting
and Stopping of DC link, Reactive power control in HVDC Converter.

Concepts of VSC based converters, Pulse width and advanced techniques for
VSC converters, Harmonic elimination and voltage control technology, HVDC
