ABSTRACT

This Research studies about the Growth of Premier League over the years since its
inception, Revenue generated by Its sponsorship and T.V. rights deals, Its Growth in
Asia especially India, effectiveness of Promotional activities of Premier League, Growth
of Football activities in Mumbai due to these promotional activities done by Premier
league and how Premier is best compared to the other leagues.

INFORMATION
English premier league has grown over the years due to globalisation as it is socio-
cultural embedded, which is a unique challenge for the League. It’s target is to create
Global fan base securing new market entries. With the help of the loyal fans and Fan
groups and communities of the Big teams like Manchester united, Arsenal, Chelsea,
Liverpool, etc it has been able to create a market for itself as these teams itself are big
brands, this is all due to Globalisation and unique promotional strategies of Clubs and
League and the Financial backing of the Big corporations, These teams are the Vital
few teams who get in more profit for the league which the small teams like Burnley or
Wigan athletic can’t as they don’t have such support from the sponsors or Big Corps.
Objectives of the study
The main objective of this study is to understand the Growth of EPL in India and
Growth of Football activities in Mumbai due to EPL.

Specific Objectives
 To study about the Awareness of English premier league.
 To study about the Promotional activities of English premier league
 To study about the relation between the Promotional Activities and the growth of
Football w.r.t. Mumbai.

Limitations of the study


The sampling was limited to 50 respondents because the area of study was limited to a
certain number of people who have the idea of the promotional activities of EPL and
know about the football activities in Mumbai.

Peoples’ opinion were also taken to know how football can grow in Mumbai that is also
why sample was limited to 50 respondents.

The accuracy of the answers provided depends on the level of the interest of the
respondents while answering the questionnaire. The opinions of the sample unit may
differ from the exact opinions of the entire population.

Keeping the objectives of the study in mind a questionnaire was made, to interview the
respondents and serve the purpose of the study. The questionnaire was distributed
among the football fans who follow football and English premier league.

The Questionnaire contained:

 Close ended Questions – Questions where people had to choose between yes,
no or maybe.
 Open ended Questions – Questions where people had to give their opinions in
short answers.
 Multiple choice questions – Questions where people where given options to
choose between.

 Secondary
The data is collected from the Websites, Articles, Surveys, Experts views online
reference documents mainly serving the purpose of the study

Recommendation & Conclusion
Through this study we get to understand the growth of English Premier League since
its inception in 1992. English Premier League has grown over the years and has been
able to make its markets all over the world. The revenue generated by the league
through its sponsorships and T.V. rights deals is huge compared to the other leagues.

The study talks about how English premier League has grown over the years in Asia
and in Asia how it has grown in India especially Mumbai. The 1st Fan park conducted
by Premier League in Mumbai made them realize how big Mumbai as a market is and
soon within 3 years they conducted another similar event in Mumbai. Along with the
event conducted by the Premier league it also took the initiative to launch a global
project in 2016 called Premier skills where they tied up with ISL clubs and AIFF to train
the Grassroots coaches and local NGOs in Mumbai to train them and educate them so
that they can educate and train the future generation.

English Premier League is also penetrating more markets in India and this time it’s
conducting its fan park Premier league live in Bengaluru in October, 2017.

Due to growing interest of English Premier League in Mumbai and such initiative taken
up by English Premier League there has been growth of Football fans in Mumbai which
resulted into more football activities in Mumbai and it has grown over the years
compared to cricket which has been nations favourit sport.
