At first I am thankful to Almighty Allah, Creator of all of us, worthy of all praises who
blessed me with courage and power to complete my work. All respects and regards for the Holy
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who remains a torch of knowledge and guidance who enable us to
recognize our creator and understand the philosophy of life.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Aliya Head of Health Department of
Adamjee Insurance Company, for providing me with an excellent atmosphere for doing
internship. Though I never introduced to her from my supervisor.

There are no proper words to convey my deep gratitude and respect for my to my
Supervisor Sir J. Prem for the continuous guidance during my internship.

Then I am grateful for the full support from Mr. Kashif Bukhari, Mr. Bilal Abbas, Mr.
Shahid Iqbal, Mr. Jawad, Mr. Taha, Mr.Zain Inam, Miss. Kinza, Mr, Raza, Mr. Sajjad, Mr.
Khalid, Mr.Abdullah, Mr. Shahryar Mr. Umair and Dr. Nadeem (Claims manager) for providing
me information on which this report is based. They were a constant source of inspiration,
encouragement and knowledge that helped me in completing my internship.

Learning as Student
Adamjee Insurance Company Limited elected me as an internee in Health Department-
Head Office Lahore. I was rotated to different units of the Health Department so that I had better
way to understand the whole working of the department. Not only this, I was also rotated to
different departments like finance, travel insurance and motor insurance upon request.

My DUTIES;
The duties, accomplishments and work which I learned in my six weeks are discussed
below:

• Filing of IPD Claims (panel and non-panel)

• Registration of IPD (Non-panel) and OPD (panel and non-panel) claims.

• Settlement of Claims.

• Endorsement (in underwriting department)

• How to maintain a record file. (FILING OF ENDORSEMENT DATA)

To register a claim, the claimant has to intimate the claim department and has to provide various
documents like hospital bills, medicine prescription, catch card copy etc. Catch card which is
issued by Health Department of Adamjee Insurance Company Limited contains the information
about policy holder name, policy number, dependants name and relationship between policy
holder and patient. Room Limit, OPD limit (if OPD is provided), cnic, Authorization Number
(A/L Number) etc.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Adamjee insurance company limited is market leader and it has so strong management structure
and there is transparency of business management but I will like to give some recommendations
as it is a requirement of my report.

 Internee should be given a proper orientation in which he should introduced to the
department HOD, Operational Manager and other Managers.

 A computer system must be provided on which he can practically demonstrate what he


has been taught.

 Better training courses should be arranged for the up lifting and improving the quality of
work of the employees.

 Some incentives (monetary or non-monetary) should be given to the employees for their
motivation.

 Employees should be informed about internship programs so that they can take out some
time from their busy schedule for the internees and their training. Some of the employees
didn't corporate at all as they say they are too busy completing their task.
 Adamjee insurance company limited management should give more stipend to the
internees because they work almost as the same ratio in comparison to the employees. The
Currency has also devaluated.

 Internees should also be invited in plans made by the whole department. It is morally and
ethically wrong to isolate an internee and leave him or her behind alone in the office while
going out on the department lunch. They should also be treated as the part of the
department family.

CONCLUSION

I will conclude that every organization must give opportunities for paid internships to the students
because when a student finishes his or her education they want a plat form to work and they want
companies to give them internship. Adamjee provides internship in many departments like
marketing, HR, finance, Health but they should not restrict the internee a in a one a single
department rather it I should be rotating so that he/she can have an overview of the the business
related entities. 6 weeks should be divided equally as internship programs are the source of
practical learning or experience. It will help the internees in interviews when they'll be looking

out for a job . Adamjee provides platform to polish the skills of the internees so that they can
prove to be the best in their job career. It was splendid experience for me that make me familiar
with business environment and culture of Adamjee insurance company limited was so
comfortable and it provides me real life working opportunity in short span of time.
I feel pleasure that I have really gained a lot of knowledge during 6 weeks & enjoyed working
with experienced, cooperative & intelligent staff.
